This is a fantastic Box Set! The remastered visuals, both English and Japanese voice tracks respectively and the revised English all come together nicely! This is a fantastic tribute to Dragon Ball Z and it's definitely the right way to watch it! And for the price, it's a steal! Watching Dragon Ball Z in widescreen is fantastic and simply more thrilling. And I shared the concern of many fans about losing some footage at the top and bottom although when I watched it, I realized that you don't even miss very much on the top or bottom from the widescreen aspect ratio change! So just sit back, relax and get ready for the most heart pumping anime out there!

They finally did release the first season of Dragon Ball Z on DVD!What took so long, one has to wonder but its here, the complete first season containing the first 39 episodes of the serie remastered.First aired in 1989 Dragon Ball Z aired from 1989-1995 in Japan and then the American version(both are included in this set)started in 1996 and aired until 2003.
The television serie is based on the manga Dragon Ball Z that had adult Goku and is actually a continuation of the "Dragon Ball" manga wich had kid Goku. For the Dragon Ball Z television show they reproduced the stories of the manga and added some new stories that would extend or explain better previous events.

This is a really great dvd set, it's nicely remastered, contains the original music and stuff. Very nice.
There are a few things that miffs me. The Japanese voice overs have a very low quality of sound(it's in mono) so it doesn't sound as good as the English dub. Also, there are still some white spots that appear occasionally throughout the episodes.
It also bugs me that FUNimation has chosen to make SO many boxsets for DBZ. Just do it and be done with it, for goodness sakes!
Finally, it seems that the English audio track isn't really that updated. Of course, anyone who is really a fan of the Japanese version won't really be concerned with the English dub.

This is my moms Amazon account I used to buy this boxset, so i'm leaving a review. This boxset is worth every penny, if not more. I've seen and heard alot of DBZ fans out there CRYING AND BITCHING because of the episodes being in widescreen. WHO CARES IF YOU LOSE A LITTLE BIT OF FOOTAGE ON TOP AND BOTTOM? You still know what's going on and you still see the main stuff you need to see. Would you rather pay $[...] for a DVD with 3 episodes from the first season, or would you rather get ALL THE EPISODES from Season 1 for $[...]? I could care less if they are in widescreen or full screen. I love Dragonball Z, and this boxset is a quality product and it's very cheap for what you are getting. I'd suggest to any Dragonball Z fan to pick this up. No more having ... Read More:

Awesome box set! Great video and audio transfer for both English and Japanese streams. And the subtitles are surprisingly well done. Even going so far as including honorific titles such as sama, and Son Goku. A long awaited box set made just as intended.
