I was turned off by the number of actors smoking in this series, a bit of a warning to parents who care about their children's health. This is a science fiction series and smoking would and should be totally unnecessary. The very public lack of scruples on this subject by the producer of this show unfortunately makes it impossible for me to recommend this otherwise excellent series.
Letter to studio heads from 31 Attorneys General, May 1, 2007
Each time a member of the [film] industry releases another movie that depicts smoking, it does so with the full knowledge of the harm it will bring to children who watch it.
I think this says it all.

This season moves us closer to the conslusion, leaving us with mny open questions but also answering many and further developing the characters.
The quality of the DVDs is good and it's nice to have the entire season in one package.
I found the price differntial between Amazon.ca and Amazon.com to be negligible and pretty-much eaten up by the cost of shipping from the US.
But right now at Best Buy it's the same price as Amazon.ca and there's a 32-page mini comic book.
Enjoy the story.

Sure, Season 3 didn't reach quite the same dizzying heights as 1 and 2, but it's still way up there in the stratosphere. The opening New Caprica arc of this season is amazing, and while the rest of the season didn't quite live up to its brilliance, it's still Galactica, meaning better than 99% of everything else on TV. The mid season arc and the final few episodes were great, and really moved the story forward in new and exciting directions. The problem is that the filler episodes in between just don't work as well. It isn't that kind of show; part of the appeal of BSG is its serialized nature.

Another top-notch quality Galactica set, no bait-and-switch with the 2.0-2.5 thing, no Razor included (which would have upset me with the double dip). Picture and sound quality is superb, another great archive of this fantastic series.

In short, season 3 is pretty lousy. Season 2 reached an apex with the brilliant mid-season cliffhanger, "Pegasus", and the show has never reached those heights since. Indeed, the cracks were starting to show by the end of that season, with a few real clunkers in the second half.
Season 3 feels rushed and short of ideas. One also can't help get the sense that the writers looked at the "dark, gritty and really well-constructed" praise for the previous seasons, and thought that the important parts were the "dark" and "gritty". The show frequently hits the viewer with the sledgehammer of doom and depression without bothering to check if the plots make sense, engage, or offer interesting character development. Sometimes it feels as though ... Read More:
