Rating: - Best Media Player for the MoneyI bought my Zune 80 at Futureshop for 200 about 2 months ago and I haven't looked back. - The sound is great. It's definitely no worse than any other player (including the Creative Zen, Archos and iRiver series which have great sounds) and audibly (on a good set of speakers) better than any of the iPods. - They come with good in-ears. Although I would still recommend getting a good pair of supra- or circum-aural headphones instead, these are perfectly good and I wouldn't bother with another pair if you're looking for something small. - The interface is great. I personally like it more than the iPod's although that's my personal preference. At any rate, I haven't heard anyone say they dislike it. Microsoft lured me in with supporting dvr-ms recorded tv files and alas - it "no workie". It seems the dvr-ms files created in vista are not the same as the dvr-ms from XP Media Center Edition (my OS). So unless I buy a vista upgrade I can't watch my recorded tv shows on the shiny new zune. Rather than use more cash for new operating system I decided to use that extra cash for the iPod Touch and it was the best decision I've made in a while. The zune headphones were nice, the 80gb was plenty but the Touch is in a class it's own, sorry Microsoft, I'm a iPod guy now. Rating: - happythis zune was $207 when i bought it a few weeks ago here- but anyways, I love my zune- this zune has a way bigger screen that ipod classic- all the better to view videos with- sort of like the ipod touch... but the ipod touch only goes up to 32GB! so you have to either sacrifice screen size or storage size if you go with ipod- and either way it will cost you more $$. so i'd say the zune is an excellent choice- given its excellent quality and user friendliness. thanks microsoft! p.s. i love the earphones that come with it- best ones i've ever had p.p.s. i havent bought a charger yet because it charges itself automatically when you have it hooked up to your computer via USB cable. Rating: - Great!The Zune 80 GB gives a lot for the money. I had previously owned a small Samsung MP3 player which finally died after a year of use. When I replaced it with the Zune--after a lot of research and comparison shopping--I was very pleased. The video quality is excellent, as is the sound. It is easy to use the software and the Zune screen is big enough to see what I am looking for. The 80 GB capacity makes it possible to store everything I want since a converted movie takes up about 400 MB. One suggestion is to buy a good case for it asap. With this kind of investment, I would not want to drop it and lose the whole thing. |
