.Hiking North Carolina's Mountains-To-Sea Trail by: Allen de Hart June 27, 2002 I used this book as I went against the grain and attempted the MTS from Blowing Rock to Cherokee-backwards. I guess this is a one way trail! De Harts book is strictly from "left to right". Its plentiful in anecdotal ways and vague in ways that make it occasionally unreliable for the person attempting this trail-especially if you are going "backwards". On the MTS trail, those seeking deep wilderness experience will have to be very tolerant. Through-hikers seeking to decompress and exit the infrastructuremania (much less human imprint altogether) might find this trail aggravating. The only maps are two large foldouts that show the general locations of the trailheads. .Trails of the Triad: 100 Hikes in the Winston-Salem/Greensboro/High Point Area by: Allen de Hart 1997-03 The Piedmont Triad is a region of North Carolina that encompasses Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Highpoint, Burlington, and a number of smaller towns. Best known for its tobacco and furniture, the area often gets ignored by tourists. However, as this guide illustrates beautifully, the Triad is brimming with fantastic trails and hiking areas. The book details information on numerous outdoor areas in the Triad. The book claims to include 140 trails, but this total clearly encompasses multiple trails in each area.
