They should sell it along with a cowbell because so many tourists have unknowingly bought into their shtick. This new edition almost word for word matches the previous edition.

I found the restaurant list needs updating. This guide just has all sorts of major errors that warrented the return.

"Hawaii the Big Island Revealed" was a WONDERFUL companion to have with us on our honeymoon to the big island in June 2004. It was indispensible for us!! The ratings are right on. We chose our hotel based on reviews- they are so accurate on their observations. The recommendations, especially for beaches, activities and shopping helped us plan our limited time on the island with ease and without doubt. We ate at really delicious "holes-in-the walls" based on accurate information and location descriptions- delicious japanese food at Teshima's, shaved ice at Scandinavian and the best chocolate covered macs from Donkey Balls at Surfin' Ass. Reading the book is like hanging out with a local. The author cuts through all the commercial hype and helps you save time and money. Unlike other travel writers who identify themselves up front and then indulge in a level of service that isn't available to the average joe, the author strives to experience the attraction or business as a tourist would. What really surprised me about the book was how interested my teenagers were in it. The maps were a tremendous help, although I agree with the author that a GPS is the best way to travel Oahu. Written for all ages, all budgets, and all lengths of stay, it's the one book to take with you to Oahu.
