. Art of Raising a Puppy
by: Brown And Company Ltd. Little
March 20, 1991
At first I thought this new-age "doggie" duty might be a bit ... out there, especially penned my monks, but I can admit when I am wrong, as I was in this case.
This is THE best book for anyone who owns a dog and wants to understand their canine companion. It is very easy to read and completely understandable. The monks' philosophy makes perfect sense. I feel a bit guily about ways we trained the family dog when I was a kid, but times have changed and these are reflected in this book.
As an adult about to embark on getting my dog, I researched ... a lot ... until a friend suggested this book. This is the first book I recommend to people. It provides clear information, offered in step by step stages of a dog that kept ... Read More:

. Our Dumb World: Atlas of the Planet Earth
by: The Onion, Brown And Company Ltd. Little
October 30, 2007
Have a quick flick through this book and you might think it was a Dorling Kindersley world atlas. It has all the DK appeal: well produced maps and state flags, interesting photos plus very clean layouts and typography but as soon as you start to read the words you realise your on planet Onion.
The two hundred and two countries mostly get a page each with two pages given to topical (in the American sense) nations like Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, North Korea or Cuba for instance. Pages 207-209 covers The Stans: Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakstan. Did you know this last nation has a space programme? Probably not but there is a photo of a rocket strapped to the back of a donkey to prove it.

. Clique Summer Collection #2: Dylan
by: Brown And Company Ltd. Little
May 06, 2008
DYLAN is the second book in THE CLIQUE SUMMER COLLECTION, and lives up to the reputation of the CLIQUE series.
Dylan and her mom (who is a famous TV personality) travel to Hawaii to interview the world-famous tennis player, Svetlana. Svetlana has recently gotten out of rehab for her anger management issues, and this is her first match and interview since her last incident. Dylan and Svetlana get in a little tiff, but as a Clique member there is no way Svetlana will come out on top -- and with the guy Dylan wants.
Is there?
Dylan is quite the conniver, I must say. This was another great addition to the series as a whole, and I can't wait to read the rest of THE CLIQUE SUMMER COLLECTION!

. Clique Summer Collection Massie
by: Brown And Company Ltd. Little
April 01, 2008
In the opening to the THE CLIQUE SUMMER COLLECTION series, Massie is the main character.
She gets kicked out of her ultra-exclusive horseback riding camp, and her parents force her to get a job. Massie comes up with a job as a make-up dealer for Be Pretty and does well -- in some ways.
In this short (it's only 123 pages long!) summer read, a lot happens.
This is a great start to a series that will keep us reading by the beach all summer long! So grab your frozen drink, book, and towel, and get ready to read!

. Clique Summer Collection Claire
by: Brown And Company Ltd. Little
August 05, 2008
Sadly, this is the last book in the fabulous CLIQUE SUMMER COLLECTION series. It really ends with a bang, however!
Claire is back in Florida with her old best friends, and then Massie shows up. How can Claire handle having a group of friends that are not as popular as she is now, and Massie (who makes Westchester look like a snob town) in the same place?
And on top of all that, Claire is asked to judge a competition that she grew up wanting to be a contestant in. The same one in which all four of her friends are going to be a part of. How do you pick a winner?
Claire is very much herself in this novel, and even though this was not my favorite of the series, it had a fabulous ending and wrapped up the summer excellently. ... Read More:

. Bartlett's Familiar Quotations
by: Brown And Company Ltd. Little
October 22, 2002
Comparing this, the 17th edition of the best known and arguably the most authoritative collection of quotations ("familiar," memorable, or just plain quotable--you choose the terminology), to its predecessor the 16th edition, the question arises, should you upgrade? I own both books and have examined them in some detail. I have used the 16th for many years. The 17th is set in a new typeface which is both slightly narrower and less bold than that of the 16th. The result is a cleaner look to the pages and more white space. The difference in the number of pages--1431 for the new, 1405 for the old--is slight, and a little misleading. In fact the new addition has more entries--"around one hundred" authors are quoted for the first time, ... Read More:

. Clique Summer Collection Alicia
by: Brown And Company Ltd. Little
June 03, 2008
Even though ALICIA is the third book in THE CLIQUE SUMMER COLLECTION, I am yet to be bored by the series!
Alicia is the character of the Clique who can stand out in a crowd. She goes to spend her summer without her parents in Spain, and she and Nina (who came to OCD in the series and caused a lot of havoc) create a lot of trouble. Alicia finds herself with a job she does not want, to pay for something that she should care about, but really doesn't. And she is trying to land a spot in a music video for a local pop star.
How does she do it all and who will she meet along the way?
Alicia is a brilliant character because she is so real. She really cares about her family, and even though she gets herself into a few compromising positions, ... Read More:
