. Collins Gem Latin Dictionary: Second Edition
by: D. A. Kidd, Harper Collins Publishers, HarperCollins
1996-11
As a high school student studying Latin, I have found this dictionary very useful for some time. The Latin to English and English to Latin sections are divided by a grey leaf grammar section. This is very useful for finding where you are, relative to the end or start of a section. However, my copy is now in several pieces. The binding and glue used leaves a lot to be desired (though I suppose it could just be that I got a faulty one). It started to fall apart from near the beginning, without rough usage. I wonder if others have experienced the same problem? Also, at 11cm high and 4cm wide, the size proportions are not the most convenient when you are trying to use it at school and flicking through it, etc. I wonder if HarperCollins ... Read More:

. Collins Shubun Pocket English-Japanese Dictionary
by: Harper Collins Publishers, HarperCollins, HarperCollins Publishers
2000-06
I'm not all that crazy about it, for one reason, I'm just not used to it. Sometimes, you get a little more than you expect. Like looking up family. I figured there would be a single kanji or word for it. Instead i find a compound for family relations, for children of a family, and another one for with a symbol next to it that I haven't looked up yet. What i'm saying is, sometimes you get more than you want, and you get surprised, but that's about the worst of it. The book is compact so you don't get sentences for most words. That's a reasonable trade-off. you may not want it as your sole dictionary though. I also would've liked sentences that do appear to have made the key word more visible, perhaps bolded. As it is, you read the sentence ... Read More:

. Ashleigh #8: The Lost Foal
by: Harper Collins Publishers, Chris Platt, Joanna Campbell
April 13, 2000
Ashleigh loves Shadow, a filly she saw being born. An unkind trainer who delivers a stallion to Edgardale, he sees Shadow and wants her. Ashleigh's parents turned down his offer. He sneaks up to Edgardale that night and steals her. Ashleigh finds Shadow at Churchill Downs, where she is helping out, but the trainer moves her again. Ashleigh finds the trainer's farm and is happily back with her filly. I can't believe that somebody will steal a horse! Let alone a foal! That was the best book in the Ashleigh series so far out of the 3 I read. Read it!
