 Rating:  - Very useful-outstanding infoMy wife and I drove to southern Baja for the first time this winter. This book was invaluable for helpful tips, places to stay, good and inexpensive restaurants, and local info. It also provided info on how to avoid getting ripped off and some safety tips for driving. The quality of our trip was greatly improved because of this book. I found it to be better than other similar books I have used for travel in other areas. I highly recommend this book for Baja travellers. Rating: - It's a Baja BibleThis turned out to be the perfect guidebook for driving into Baja. The border crossing-tourist card process set us up in the necessary lanes to make it into the correct parking lot. The "Baja road rules" were an eye opener. Who would guess that a left turn signal means, "It's safe to pass me!" We drove all the way down to the tip of the peninsula, and were pleased with each of the book's food and lodging recommendations. There is good information on how to access the various sport sites and a list of guides and outfitters for even the most remote areas. I highly recommend this guidebook! Rating:  - Not enough info on CaboWith only a few pages dedicated to Cabo San Lucas, I feel this book was a complete waste of money. The book gives a very broad overview of Baja and very little specific recommendations. In my opinion, it was poorly organized and had very little to offer. I recommend Fodor's Pocket Los Cabos (2nd Edition) instead! Rating: - Best Places titles are a great source for your trip!This is the second Best Places book I purchased (I also have Seattle). I have had incredibly good luck with all of the recommendations in these books. I just returned from a week in Cabo San Lucas and stayed at a hotel in this book that was wonderful and ate all of our meals at very reasonably priced restaurants recommended in this book...everything was great! My only complaint is that these books have very few maps in them. A good map of the area is a great companion to these books...but so is a good concierge who can make reservations and give you directions. |
