. Brief History of Modern Warfare

This is an excellent narrative account of the Russo-Japanese war which does well as a reader's first look at the conflict. However it a little confusing when referring to the little picture. For example insufficient maps are provided for the naval engagements which were of high priority in this war. Don't go in expecting to get a good picture of every battle, in the end you get a rough idea of what happened and not much else. Think of this as primer material before moving into books covering specific actions of the campaign.
