Another excellent book by Dr. Amen, which is so fascinating about how the brain works and how with the newest diagnostic tools, it can be "tweaked" so our lives can be the best they can be. Very interesting read.

I was astounded while reading this book that the reviews were so good. I found it rang false, not because I thought she was lying or exaggerating, but because there was something missing. Accepting one's upbringing as dysfunctional and coming to terms with it is healthy. But this didn't feel healthy to me. It seemed almost romanticized, like her life was a character-building lark. Somebody's in denial: perhaps it's me, since I'm so entirely outnumbered.

I really enjoyed this book for the first couple pages, but once I got into it I realized that they write in a way that almost seems judgmental and made me feel that I had done everything in my pregnancy wrong. Certain topics that I looked up in the book I noticed that they were very quick to add the negative and I felt so panicked and scared reading this book. I have read many other books since and have never felt that same panic as I did reading this book. I highly recommend the pregnancy bible, or the complete book of pregnancy and childbirth. I found those books encouraging rather than unsettling. I also found that a lot of information in this book was misinformed according to my doctors, midwives. I checked this book out of library when my first child was a baby. I now use AskDrSears.com website. This book is very comprehensive and a good reference book from attachment parenting perspective. I would also recommend to read about other perspectives.

If you need to go back to work then you may find that some ideas are not practical, but overall it is a good book. It talks a lot about breastfeeding, carrying your baby in a sling and co-sleeping. Sears don't tell you that you are a bad parent if you are not following all the ideas, they tell you to find what is best for your baby AND you. If it offends you or makes you feel guilty to hear a lot about attachment parenting, then this book may not be for you.

After trying out some of the recipes, it wouldn't now occur to my kids that one could make cookies without beans :-) So, some of the book's ideas are very creative.

The ideas in this book, both for always having pureed veggies on hand, and for the sheer creativity of some of the recipes, are quite inspiring.

Having said that, however, not all the ingredients are listed in the quantities that best go with the recipes, e.g. the chocolate cookie dough is too thick (and, incidentally, works better with red kidney rather than garbanzo beans, and with milk rather than dark chocolate chips:-).

I bought this book as well as the Ferber Method book. I wanted to be well researched. What I loved about this book was the compassionate side. It is written from a mother's perspective rather than a science perspective. It doesn't promise fast results, but give practical tips to the frustrated mother. After 11 days my daughter was sleeping from about 8pm at night until 8am the next morning and only waking at 1am to nurse. It also turned me on to attachment parenting, to which I also bought (and reviewed on this site) Dr. Sears' Attachment Parnting book. I recommend both. THey have totally changed my parenting style for the better.

I first read this book in college, and found that the principles it discusses work just as well with adults as it does with children. Portions of the book have given me great success in dealing with difficult coworkers. It helped me to overcome some problematic situations with my wife as well.

I bought this book as an additional aid to a University class that I'm taking. The message of it is very simple, and likely things that people have always noted before. I don't think that it really took a Doctor to write it. Anyone that thinks, feels, and observes their mate, can figure this stuff out. That being said, some people are oblivious, or perhaps don't realize something until it's said and the light bulb goes off.

Relationships are important. Especially for wemen. This is a great book about relationships. If you need a good advice in this aspect of your life I strongly recommend getting this book among other titles. It's good to study what other have said in order to improve such areas of humanity as falling in love, making love, making sure that your personal life does not intefere with your business, etc. It is a great reading indeed. I thank Robert Kiyosaki for the teachings he's shared in the book in regards to the simplification (oversimplification could be argued yes) of the financial systems available - and the patterns of how to break free of the rat race.

This is the book that convinced me that I could go out there and make a million dollars a year on my own gumption, and it's because of this book that I'm where I am today. Running my own business and enjoying passive income.

On the flip side however, MLM's are not the greatest method to reach financial freedom - but they are a great teaching ground for the basics of marketing and sales.
