The following came from reader Rita J. Martin recently: Good Afternoon. Say I just wanted to say, we loved your "Off the Beaten Path" British Columbia. Recently, my husband and I celebrated our 30th Anniversary and took a trip to British Columbia. And we used your book every step of the way and found there to be no errors within the contents (except a few increases in admission - and we called that life!). We even loved eating Halibut and Chips at Mad Trapper Neighborhood Pub. It's also thought it was funny we had taken several trips throughout the years and have never stopped at Marble Canyon wow I mean shout it out! That place is wonderful and will remain on our stopping list forever. I could go on and ... Read More:

City Travel Guides > Books > Off the Beaten Path
by: Bill Murphy
1999-11
Superbly illustrated with black/white photography and "user friendly" maps, One Tank Trips With Bill Murphy showcases 52 Florida-based adventures that can, quite literally, be taken with one tank of gas in the car, van, truck, or motorhome. From the Pioneer Florida Museum in Dade City to the Mote Marine Aquarium in Sarasota, a wealth of relevant information and "how to" advice make One Tank Trips With Bill Murphy a strongly recommended planning aid for anyone seeking fun in the Florida sun! Also very highly recommended is the new sequel, More One Tank Trips With Bill Murphy (0942084276, ...) which follows the same superbly presented composition of the first book and offers the vacationer with 52 additional fun-filled Florida excursions based ... . Fodor's Eastern and Central Europe, 20th Edition: The Guide for All Budgets, Where to Stay, Eat, and Explore On and Off the Beaten Path

I found this book difficult to use. The descriptions of city sites are sorted alphabetically. Therefore, you have to know the name of a specific site in the correct language to find a description. If you don't speak Polish, Hungarian, etc, it's difficult to find what you're looking for. There are only a few maps of major cities in the guide and therefore it's difficult to find any locations outside of the major cities. This book does provide some decent descriptions of restaurants. The upside to the book is that it is the only one that I've found that covers such a diverse group of countries. I just wish that it was organized better and that it had more maps.
