Jon Kabat-Zinn is an excellent and highly trained scientist and it shows in this book. He definitely has a very wide variety of knowledge not just on meditation itself. I just love how he relates to quotes from buddhism, taoism and other famous classics throughout the book. It impresses me a lot because these quotes are deep but very suitable and are there to help your understanding but NOT to show off his knowledge. It takes very high level of expertise and effort to make things precise and accessible like this. Definitely a 5 star work!

PS. A quote from Lao Tzu he chose in this book has impressed me so much that I choose to live a very "taoist" life myself!

As the name implies, this is an Exam Prep book. With great insight into how the exam questions are written, it was the only book I needed. I passed the PMP exam on the first try with the following study method:

- attempt to use the PMBOK... very dry and I made it to chapter 3 (it's a great reference book, but painful to read/study from)
- bought this PM Exam Prep book
- read it through once, much easier
- book marked a number of sections and re-read those once more before the exam
- wrote the exam, passed.

If there is any book, and I mean ANY book about photography that you are to read, THIS IS THE ONE.

This book is the holly grail of photography books. It "teaches" the reader the fundamental behavior of light, the science behind it, and how it can be handled when shooting a picture. The approach is simple enough that the average reader can easily understand. Its style is academic, the illustrations are very clear and detailed, and it walks you through the entire spectrum one step at a time.

It is not a quick read. This is the kind of book you study and learn its material. The wealth of knowledge which you will gain is critical to any photographer who is serious about their craft.

This is not a novel, nor is it anything close, but thank God for David Sedaris and his tell-it-like-it is humour. Known by just about everyone now from his NPR interviews and stand-up routines, he's famous because he's so darn funny. ME TALK PRETTY ONE DAY is by far the most entertaining book of this or any other century and you WILL laugh out loud, even in public. This short book ranks up there with "Naked" McCrae's "Katzenjammer," and the novel "Confederacy of Dunces." I highly recommend it to anyone who like to laugh.

I was so sad that i read this book too fast just beacuse i couldn't put it down! I loved every page! The epilogue was kinda weird though, i wish it was bella and edward's future or something instead of jacob's anger.

I sit here and wonder, is there something wrong with me, or all the other people? Where are all those awesome reviews coming from? Did people really love this story so much, or are they just "hype followers" who cannot think for themselves. So many give this book great reviews, but I just don't understand why. It's VERY SLOW and way too descriptive,not to mention unrealistic. If books are usually better than movies, then I definitely don't want to see this movie.

I've started to take an interest in some of Chabon's works as to how he develops and equips the protagonist to both survive and flourish in outrageously hostile environments. This recent novel is brilliant example of how a writer can place a seemingly ordinary, everyday person like Landsman, a lapsed Jew, who likes his job as a detective but has just come through a bitter divorce, in the most incongruent of environments, a Hassidic community in Alaska called Sitka. The style of writing is not for everyone. Is it well written? Yes and no. It seems to try too hard, resulting in a book that doesn't generate much desire to keep turning the pages.
