Stephen King teaches novelists to think of an unusual situation to start the book and then let the book write itself from there. Chasing Darkness proves that formula isn't surefire advice. Despite a very interesting and unusual beginning, Chasing Darkness manages to end up feeling all too pedestrian at the end.

Elvis Cole and Joe Pike are inspired characters who have provided their fans hours of amusement, entertainment, and dark humor. When those two are at it, the rest of the story doesn't matter so much.

After having read Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions and Why Popcorn Costs So Much at the Movies: And Other Pricing Puzzles, I was predisposed to find Gardner's Risk lacking in depth and relevance.

While the first two are written by economists for the masses and fail (in different ways) to deliver content that goes beyond "interesting" to "generalizable to the human condition", Risk: The Science and Politics of Fear is exceptionally interesting and illustrative. Gardner, a reporter not an economist, has researched his topic to depths atypical of modern texts. This was so worth the wait for Acheron's story. Sherrilyn Kenyon released a book that is two books in one and I couldn't put it down until it was finished. Definately buy it, read it and then you will find yourself reading it again its so good! So stop reading this review and go get the book!

This book is a must read for every Canadian household.

Without being preaching, it offers countless tips on how you can live a healthier lifestyle while having less of an impact on planet Earth.

The book is organized in practical themes which allow for a reading by clusters, as well as going back to a certain chapter before heading for a shopping trip... it will allow you to make an informed decision as a consumer.

The writing style is witty, there is a good use of textboxes...

One of the best books I have ever put my hands on.

This book is dessert for the eye and the mouth. The table of contents is creatively designed to show you a picture of the cookie and it organizes them into cookie type. So far I have tried 7 different cookie types to great success and I plan to do more very soon. The instructions are easy to follow. The back of the cookbook has examples of useful tools, decorating materials and packaging ideas. Some of the cookies I have tried are the Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies, the Chocolate Thumbprint and the Chocolate Pistachio cookies. Some of the cookies are easy and some are more difficult to prepare, but even if you only make a few (there are 175 recipes to try) it is well worth it.

This is an awesome book! If you want to really help students improve in reading, then you've got to have it. I teach LD students, and I have seen the biggest difference in the level of comprehension among my students since I have started using the strategies outlined in the book. If you haven't read it, you will wonder how you ever taught reading without it!
