Another excellent book by Dr. Amen, which is so fascinating about how the brain works and how with the newest diagnostic tools, it can be "tweaked" so our lives can be the best they can be. Very interesting read.

This book starts off with a bang - i couldn't put it down for the first 2/3's. but the ending left me confused, unresolved and disappointed. A lot of other reader comments said this book was similar in some way to the "life of pi" - to which i would have to strongly disagree.
Unique, different story line; - 3 stars.

I have been a fan of this series from the beginning and unlike many series I still find myself eating this up like popcorn! I must admit I am a CSI fan and the whole forensic anthropology science I find fascinating. I also identify with Dr. Brennan, I am not a doctor nor an investigator but some of the domestic issues have hit home with me.

This time out Temperance is trying two ID a couple of bodies at the animus the animus of the local populace which already has tried there suspect in the court of pubic opinion. I don't want to give to much away but the story mixes in voodoo magic, a fundamentalist preacher who is after devil worshipers, dirty politics, and even male prostitution! From the moment I read the Publisher's Weekly starred review in June on The Story of Edgar Sawtelle: A Novel by David Wroblewski, I knew I had to read the book. It did take some time, but it was worth every moment. (I'll admit that I read some non-fiction in between--if for no other reason than to make the novel last longer!)

If you love animals--especially dogs--and believe in their power of communication and their ability to love, this book is a must read. I was entranced from the start, as The Sawtelle's raise a fictional breed of dog, known to be exceptional at understanding humans.

The hero, Edgar,a mute, bonds with his favorite dog, Almondine. How they communicated with such intensity and depth was deeply moving.

Ohh, it was with great happiness and anticipation that I settled in on the couch with the newly released 'All the Colours of Darkness'!

This is the 18th book in the Inspector Banks series from Peter Robinson. Every last one has been a great read and this one was no exception.

The series takes place in England and has followed the career of Alan Banks and his co workers. Just as interesting is Banks' personal life. Over 18 novels, it has been fascinating to follow the progressions of the character's lives. It gives such a realistic note to the books and makes the characters even more believable. Banks' fondness for listening to all types of music has more than once sent me on a search for a CD, just to hear what he has described.

This book transports you to another era with its colorful descriptions of the Second World War, this delightful island & its people. It makes you want to read more books of this type & also to read more books on Guernsey Island. The characters are marvelous & I wish the book was longer so I could spend more time with them.

This book was the textbook for a Project Management course I recently completed. We covered the project management methodologies, as promoted by the Project Management Institute (PMI). I found the format of this book somewhat difficult to absorb. However, I must admit that the PMI did a good job including many concepts that are important to the profession of project management.
The first three chapters give a good introduction to project management, while chapters 4 through 12 are dedicated to each of the 9 PM knowledge areas. The core of this book is the set of 44 processes, mapped out into the 5 process groups and the 9 knowledge area. Each process has corresponding Inputs, Tools and Techniques, and Outputs. After reading this book, only one clean idea emergies: The idea of the power of now is great. Living in the now and not worrying so much about the past and future is very uplifting and has helped me. When you live in the now, your life is more joyful.

However, I frequently found that Tolle talks over my head, using language such as "pain body" and "unmanifested". He does explain these words, but the explainations can be hard to follow at times.

Furthermore, the question and answer format Tolle uses is distracting. Sometimes the questions he poses are good and follow what he has been saying, but others the questions seem to come from inside his head and the answers make even less sense then the questions.
