Have you ever flipped a coin 100 times to see the sequence of heads and tails that comes up? If you have, you know that there can be long streaks of heads and tails. Random results that end up 50-50 don't look that way in the short term.

Human perception is such that we like to find patterns where none exist. I remember the CEO of a company I worked for would draw a trend line through one data point with great authority, totally unaware of what he was doing.

I would first rate this book 4 * from an objective point of view because I've found that Krakauer's personal mountain-climbing story breaks the flow. It was like interrupting your reading of one book and starting to read a completely different one on a similar subject matter. However the
book is so well written, you can't put it down.

I personally give it 5 stars because I find that it was important to bring out this tragic story to light. This book is not just about a troubled young man who died on his journey mainly by his own fault. It is also about a young person's soul-searching quest, reaching for higher ideals, finding your place in what is becoming an overly unjust world.

Would not recommend this to anyone. Don't get me wrong. Daniel has some useful advice if you like to play a loose smallball style but much of the rest of the book is just garbage filler from people you would expect would have more to discuss. Even Erik Lindgren's section is extremely boring. Evelyn Ng should not have been included in this. Maybe a little conflict of interest going on there Daniel?

Not much math is discussed at all so if you like to learn that stuff you'd be much better off buying 'No-Limit Hold'em Theory and Practice' which is easily the best book I've ever read.

Sen. Obama is more of a pragmatist than an idealist -- contrary to his inspired speeches. At best, he seeks to heal the partisan divide of U.S. politics for the common good. At worst, he comprimises too often (as I Canadian, I can relate to that) and he sometimes appears to want to please everyone.

It is frustrating that his particular political mixture (a warmed-over Clintonism) is the only one realistically possible for Democrats to be electable in the U.S. at this time... Whether that is good or bad that depends on one's political views.

That said, the book is well-written and thought out. An interesting chronicling of a major politic figure finding his way... I just hope he continues the quest forward, instead of getting muddled... ... Read More:

This book is fantastic!

It helped me improve my organizational skills and paved the way for better time management.
