I was excited for this book to come out because of the negative light it cast on religion. It's about time that someone defended us free thinkers. This book didn't not let me down in the least. Mr. Dawkins did an amazing job of poking holes through religion in general and Christianity in particular. I have re-read this book a few times and will continue to treasure it for always. It is my bible!

This is my first Cormac McCarthy novel and it probably won't be my last. "The Road" is a stark narrative about a man and his son navigating their way south on an unnamed interstate enroute to the coast after some unknown catastrophic event which has grayed the skies, scorched the earth and left very little life. The only people alive are scavengers who pillage, steal and eat children.

Now, the uplifting part. McCarthy builds up the relationship between the man and his son providing a glimmer of hope in humanity amidst the destruction around them. The dialogue between the two is absolutely remarkable. The humanism is striking.

This third novel is a complete disappointment. It's boring - with nothing more happening than Dexter whining and moaning page after page. The sole interesting aspect is Lindsay revealing a banal religious self-righteous attitude that states "gods" other than his own are, of course, "the devil". And, superstitiously, the devil is responsible for psychological aberrations - or evil.

Instead of being a fun and fascinating look into one man's abnormal personality, it becomes a lame adaptation of "the devil made me do it".

For the first time in history a tv series far outshines a novel series. Lindsay has made tv better than books . . .

This is the third in the fever series and the story of Mac just keeps getting better. She is a normal southern girl who is way over her head in paranormal experiances that she never knew she would be involved in. She finally thinks she has the hang of her powers but is she ever wrong. Everyone seems to need or want her special help. I really enjoyed that the MacKeltars from the Highlander series have gotten involved in the plot. I couldnt put this book down and I read it over a weekend. The triangle between Mac, Barrons and V'lane really gets interesting. Plus I wondered if anything will happen with Christian. When I bought this book at the local Zellers, I didn't even know there were other books before it until I made it to chapter three or four, but I read on anyway and loved it regardless. There were enough scenes where Sookie thinks about the past to know what had happened without droning on. It was for this reason that I fell in love with Eric's character. Both of his characters at least, as opposed to being a Bill fan. Which was why the end saddened me, but overall the story was great, and I hope to see more interaction between him and Sookie in the next book, even if it is just him doing his playful flirting

I really enjoyed this book for the first couple pages, but once I got into it I realized that they write in a way that almost seems judgmental and made me feel that I had done everything in my pregnancy wrong. Certain topics that I looked up in the book I noticed that they were very quick to add the negative and I felt so panicked and scared reading this book. I have read many other books since and have never felt that same panic as I did reading this book. I highly recommend the pregnancy bible, or the complete book of pregnancy and childbirth. I found those books encouraging rather than unsettling. I also found that a lot of information in this book was misinformed according to my doctors, midwives.
