We've used this guide book for:
- Two trips to Scotland;
- Multiple trips to London and surrounding areas, both for business and pleasure;
- A recent trip to Oxford, with side trips to the Cotswolds, Windsor Castle et al.

For sites to see, the DK guide books have excellent maps, points of interest and "star sights", their recommendation of places you must see. I've found their Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral sections in this book particularly well done, and the coverage of London plus maps have prevented us from having to purchase a separate London guide. I like this book for two reasons.

1) The pictures are incredible. I am preparing for my first trip to Australia and after reading this book, I feel like I know it already.
2) Secondly, this book contains all sorts to tips and information that I have not read elsewhere.

I don't think a person could buy just one book and expect to know everything there is to know about Australia. But if you are planning a trip, I reccommend that you purchase this book as one of the sources to use for planning your vacation.

We have traveled to France the past 3 years and are in the process of planning the 4th at this writing. As always (since discovering these guides)I started with this guide to determine which part of France we will visit and the potential route. I also own the guides to Paris, Loire Valley and Provence. The Green Guides offer much more detail but are infuriatingly arranged in alphabetical order. Eyewitness guides are arranged by area and include some theme tours (wine,cheese,troglodyte, etc)This and the beautiful pictures make planning a joy. I just wish they published an area guide for Southwest France, where we are headed in 2003!!

Bought this book in advance of our trip to Turkey and found it an excellent reference book to use while vacationing. It's great as a tour guide, with detailed explantions and dieagrams on some of the major sites in Turkey but rather weak in the hotel and where to eat sections. You're better off with Frommers or Fodor's for that.

Hint: Don't buy the companion Eyewitness Guide for Istanbul. About 90% of that guide is found in this book.

I've been to Mexico twice, and I'm in love with it. I was planning a special short trip on Easter week this year, but because of personal reasons I couldn't go. In my frustration, I went to the book store and looked at every guide about Mexico, and to my surprise, this was the most complete. The rest were just text. I bought it inmediately, and while I read it I traveled without leaving home. The most importante feature is the abundance of pictures.

If you are planning to travel to Mexico, or just enjoy learning about other countries, this book should be part of your collection.
