.Cambodia Handbook City Travel Guides > Books > Footprint Handbooks by: John Colet, Joshua Eliot 1997-03 Compared to the excellent Lonely Planet guide and even the rough guide, the Footprint book on Cambodia leaves much to be desired... it is full of errors of history and fact, and even gives wrong coordinates on its maps, especially its important map of Phnom Penh. If you buy one guidebook to Cambodia, let it be Lonely Planet, not this very disappointing Footprint guide, no matter how pretty the pictures are. D.G. .South American Handbook City Travel Guides > Books > Footprint Handbooks by: Ben Box 1997-10 I have only been in five of the fourteen countries covered in this handbook, but of those I have travel through, I found this all-in-one guide to be succinct, reliable and valuable. That said, it does not replace the comprehensiveness of a specific country guide. Basically, this handbook is a digested compilation of the specific country handbooks that Footprint produces. Thus, if you are only visiting one or two countries, buy those handbooks. If you are going to explore South America and want only one guide, this guide will be valuable. Each country section is condensed, comprehensive and reliable. Though smaller towns will be omitted, the most important cities, towns and sites will be covered. A little critical of the so-called Singapore Miracle -- but that is not a stance without merit. (After all, it's the most successful totalitarian state on the planet!) Note that this second edition was written in 2000, and is missing some important details (like the fact that there is a Chinatown stop on the MRT these days; or the fact that the Chinese Heritage museum has been completely re-done as a multimedia experience akin to the Asian Civilizations Museum -- and while a little hokey is quite effective at communicating the history of the Chinese experience in Singapore; etc.) Definitely more meat to this guidebook than most. >>See More Reviews & Details on Singapore Handbook |
