.Insight Guide - Korea City Travel Guides > Books > Insight Guide by: Tom Le Bas 2000-09 If you are planning your first holiday in Korea and look for a compact, well organized and illustrated travel guide, take this one into consideration. It is being kept up to date and contains all the major and minor attractions that Koreans would tell you you should not miss. Addresses, maps, some background information on food, arts, religion etc., everything is ordered into seperate chapters and really "at your fingertips"; the main part of the book naturally covers locations of interest. If you are interested in a better understanding of Korea's highest treasure, it's people, this is not the guide's purpose and it can only serve as an introduction. It has an extensive history section and details the features of all of the major hotels and attractions. Take note that it is produced by the Discovery Channel, because it reads much like the channel's documentaries. That is the guide's downfall. While it is tall on info, it is horrible short on critique. It does not rate the hotels, restaurants, or attractions. If you want a really helpful guidebook, with lots of tips and advice, check out "The Unofficial Guide". The Insight Guide is a good secondary guidebook through which to read up on general Las Vegas info. Just don't make this one the first or only guide ...
