Wow! This is easily the best guidebook to New Orleans you'll ever find. Filled with rich detail concerning the city's history, cuisine and customs, you'll find yourself reading it for entertainment, not just in preparation for your trip.

I've read pretty much all of the guides available, because NOLA is my favorite place on earth, and this is the only one that comes even close to capturing its mysterious spirit.

The previous reviewer, Mr. Gurgel, beat me to the punch. This is the type of guide to NYC that I will be giving to out-of-town friends as well. And for just about the same reasons.

As a lifelong student of New York City's history, I've always been intrigued by what these guidebooks say about my town's history and present attractions. Some have been dismal. One made mention that Houston Street was named after the Texan, Sam Houston. WRONG! Another had Times Square still listed as a "dangerous place--a must to avoid", as late as 1999, four years after the area had been totally rehabilitated and became the No. 1 tourist attraction in town.

This is a colorful book with lots of pictures about New Zealand. Its first couple of chapters include the history and culture of New Zealand are especially interesting. They were very useful for visitors to the Kiwi country. However, its lack of large street maps, area maps and detail route maps are disappointing as well as annoying. Although the front cover has an overview map of both the north & south island, I think it will improve the ease of reading and research if various level of district maps and street maps are provided, especially when a traveller was deciding which hotel/motel to book reservations and how far he/she needs to drive from one scenic spot to the next. For part of our honeymoon, my wife and I decided to tour Norway and the rest of Scandinavia. For Norway, there was no better guide than this little book. It gave us all the info we needed - baring accommodation. But that can be seen to easily by popping into Norway's myriad tourist offices and booking ahead.

It's great for a number of reasons. One, it's very small and fits in your pocket - unlike most of the competition. Two, there is little so-called 'travel advice'. It focuses mainly on the best places to visit, what you can see when there and then ranks them in orders of fabulousness.
