I had no idea there were so many delightful, eccentric people with their own little countries out there. The listings are comprehensive, quirky, enjoyable and sometimes absurd, but always fun. I especially like the Barony of Caux, wher the national sport is "Whacking the Welsh"!

Over the last several years eleven members of my family have made trips to Poland. Each time, we've visited a different part of the country. Our most recent trip was in April/May 2002. We all have several different travel books about Poland that we've purchased over the years. However, without consulting one another, three of us carried their copies of this book with them, and pulled them out when we met in Warsaw. We all agreed that this is the best book on traveling in Poland. As we toured through the country, we would read about the places that we would be visiting the next day. This edition is far better than the previous editions. It's new organization and additional information sections are a marked improvement. A new section on Flora and Fauna gives a highlight of any New Zealand tramp. This book acts as an excellent reference book while tramping. Of course, if the book contained every piece of required information, (i.e. highly detailed maps and every step of the way instructions) it would require 1000's of pages. The authors surmount that difficulty by including instructions on how to obtain additional necessary information. The book is perfect for those that are looking into or planning a backpacking trek to New Zealand.
