.Fodor's Japan, 15th Edition: Expert Advice and Smart Choices: Where to Stay, Eat, and Explore On and Off the Beaten Path City Travel Guides > Books > Off the Beaten Path by: Fodor's March 14, 2000 I had an awesome time in the Kanto and Kansai regions. I give thank to all the people of Fodor's. When I was there you are not going to believe how many Americans are carrying this book around. A lot! Fodor's signature not-so-detailed map actually added my appreciation of this beautiful country. I got lost almost everyday, but that was great part of my travel. I got to ask around and met the warm locals who do not even speak English yet willing to help. .Fodor's London 2003: The Guide for All Budgets, Where to Stay, Eat, and Explore On and Off the Beaten Path City Travel Guides > Books > Off the Beaten Path by: Fodor's August 27, 2002 The Fodor guides are a good source for the various locations around the globe. They are not as good as the Arthur Frommer guides. The Fodor guides are not for the budget traveler. They focus on the pricier accommodations and restaurants. But, what they do rate there is a wonderful detailed description. .Fodor's Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire, 8th edition: The Guide for All Budgets, Where to Stay, Eat, and Explore On and Off the Beaten Path City Travel Guides > Books > Off the Beaten Path by: Fodor's January 07, 2003 In my naivety, I believed the blurb on the front of this book, "every budget" and "off the beaten path"- but when I received it I learned that this obviously refers to every budget upper middle class or better, and off the beaten path only because only about 5 people can afford to eat in restaurants where the main course is $40. Not only do I feel excluded as a social worker and a budget traveler- but the highlights on things to do were practically absent- the section on Burlington, VT is only 3 pages long, with only 9 or 10 hotel and restaurants combined listed! Hello- I've never been there and I know there's a lot more going on. That's one other thing- I personally dislike having dining/lodging listings combined- I mean, they're certainly ... .Fodor's Maui and Lanai, 12th edition: The Guide for All Budgets, Where to Stay, Eat, and Explore On and Off the Beaten Path City Travel Guides > Books > Off the Beaten Path by: Fodor's November 05, 2002 This is a good place to start if you're thinking about going to Maui, though if you really want to get into the nitty-gritty, I highly recommend Maui Revealed by Andrew Doughty, which goes into a lot more candid reviews about restaurants and lodgings. This was our first time and probably the last that we purchase a Fordor's book. For example, the entrance fee for Tulum was only 350 pesos. The book says 8 US dollars or 800 pesos. Chitchen-Itzas or any major Mexican landmark is free on all major holidays, but this information was not even mentioned. The local eatery was very difficult to find and we ended up have to ask the locals for the location. There is no suggested itinerary for each major destination or location.
