.Rough Guide Mallorca 1e City Travel Guides > Books > Rough Guide by: Rough Guide August 09, 2001 This is the first and last Rough Guide that I will purchase. One might think that a 272 page book about a fairly small place would be quite thorough. On the contrary, this guide lacked references to some of the best experiences we had on the island. Additionally, the indexing was atrocious (e.g. no entries for boat rental, markets, groceries...I could go on). .Rough Guide Tunisia 5e City Travel Guides > Books > Rough Guide by: Rough Guide November 26, 1998 I took this guide book as well as the Lonely Planet toTunisa for a month. I could have easily gotten along with just the Planet, and it's smaller to lug around. The Rough Guide was often either vague, or the information was so wrong that I got the impression that some of the places written about were never actually visited by the writter. Directions were hard to follow and the layout of information was not nearly as concise as the Planet Guide. .Rough Guide Morocco 5e City Travel Guides > Books > Rough Guide by: Rough Guide August 06, 1998 I spent a week travelling around Morocco with this guide. It was super helpful in deciding where to stay once we arrived at various cities, especially since the book had many choices depending on your price range. The maps in the Rough Guide are very, very detailed and easy to follow. However, it would help if the maps had street names written in Arabic as well since most of the street signs in Morocco aren't labelled in English. Arriving in Hungary by plane as I did in the Summer of 2000, you feel you have arrived in a country where a completely strange, vigourous and stimulating language is spoken and little else except goodwill. This book has the capacity to guide you into this really foreign country, offering you several possibilities in the above situation, varying from the safe: 'take a cab but fix the price beforehand', to the more adventurous: 'take bus # 93 (red) to the metro terminal and continue your journey to Budapest by taking the blue metro line to the centre of town'. .Rough Guide West Africa 3e City Travel Guides > Books > Rough Guide by: Rough Guide November 25, 1999 The Rough Guide series is nice, if sometimes odd, for understanding what to do and what not to do in particular countries or regions. Usually, its best to get both Rough Guide and Lonely Plaent and compared the information between the two, just to avoid any unfortunate occurances. But thats just me. Anyway, this book basically covers travel in West Africa: Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Senegal, the Gambia, Cabo Verde, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria and Cameroon. Theres basic travel information, as well as notes for getting into and out of each country, and things you can do while your there.
