This provides you with a very good overview of places to visit inside the park. It includes all areas: the Highway 60 corridor, the north and the east sides of the park.

The book goes into details of good places to visit for scenic views, or viewing wildlife, or having a picnic. This is a good book to bring with you when you visit the Park.

What stopped me from giving this book 5-stars was that most of the information available in the book is also available on the internet. I was hoping to learn of secret trails, or places to visit that the average tourist doesn't know about. There were a couple of places I never knew existed, but not as much as I had hoped for.

I enjoyed this book and it is in many ways a very unusual book. It was written by Hap Wilson with the help of his wife Stephanie Aykroyd. They are experienced wilderness activists, canoe adventurers, and photographers. Hap has written other similar books and they live north of Toronto in Ontario, Canada (the province next to Manitoba) in a semi-wilderness and cottage area know as Muskoka. They are very passionate about their wilderness experiences and their various views on the environment and canoeing. I am from Manitoba originally, owned a canoe in that region, and know a little bit about the area. This is a beautiful, large coffee table sized book. The photography is sharp, clear and the colors are beautiful. What is most impressive is the range of the text. It takes up the culture of the Sherpas, Buddhism, some geological and physiological findings as well as the climbing and filming of the Everest IMAX movie.

Sponsored by the National Geographic, and led by David Breashears, a highly respected leader and photographer, this was a dream team in operation. Lead climber was Ed Viesturs, brilliant U.S. climber who has attained 12 of the 14 highest peaks in the world, all without supplemental oxygen. As I spend allot of time in the wilderness I read this book as it was recommended to me by a friend. I am happy I did.

While the Milepost will give you every pullout and scenic view on the highway, this book is great reading about what to do, and what to see on your way. The information is very accurate and intresting. In this book, when you look up a certain place you end up reading on and on.

I am an ATCK in my 40s, and reading this book has proven to be a very profound experience. It allowed me to come to terms with issues that I have been trying to get to the bottom of my whole life. It was like psychotherapy but much cheaper!! The authors are thorough and thoughtful, and absolutely nail the issues that TCKs and ATCKs find themselves in possession of through no fault of their own. This book should be required reading for anyone preparing to move their families to the mission field. It should be required reading for all foreign missions administrative staff. To be in the field of foreign missions and not heed the information in this book is irresponsible in my opinion.

This edition is far better than the previous editions. It's new organization and additional information sections are a marked improvement. A new section on Flora and Fauna gives a highlight of any New Zealand tramp. This book acts as an excellent reference book while tramping. Of course, if the book contained every piece of required information, (i.e. highly detailed maps and every step of the way instructions) it would require 1000's of pages. The authors surmount that difficulty by including instructions on how to obtain additional necessary information. The book is perfect for those that are looking into or planning a backpacking trek to New Zealand.
