.Time Out Guide To South Of France City Travel Guides > Books > Time Out Travel by: Out Time January 31, 2006 This guide has really up-to-date information. In addition to quoting all prices in Euros, it also has updated hours for major attractions. It's very useful when going to the Cote d'Azure in off-peak seasons, because you would want to know when the attractions are closed. This guide also has extensive public transportation information, so if you don't rent a car, you will want to have this guide in your hand. The only complaint I have is that the book could use more maps (I strongly recommend getting a comprehensive map for the region you are going). For example, it talks about the village Eze between Nice and Monaco, but then the train only stops at Eze-sur-Mer, which is not on any maps, so you don't know if the two places are close enough to ... This guide is no exception. It is definately worth taking if you are planning on spending any time in Sydney. .Time Out Guide To Tokyo City Travel Guides > Books > Time Out Travel by: Out Time June 28, 2005 Time Out Tokyo provides good cultural information -- restaurants, musuems, stores, etc. Unfortunately, it does not contain even the basics in terms of maps. Many of the recommended sites are not on any map in the book, and there is no overall map. The Lonely Planet Tokyo City Guide is far better in terms of maps and other logistical information, such as where trains run and when. .Time Out Guide To Turin City Travel Guides > Books > Time Out Travel by: Out Time November 29, 2005 When I moved to Turin I looked for a guidebook to help me get oriented. I found that Time Out Turin was the best of the bunch. It is particularly strong in "Things to Do". It provides background info essential to understanding some of the most important tourist attractions, it has several great ideas for walking tours and it also offers great ideas for day trips in the surrounding cities. The maps are excellent as well. The book falls a bit short in restaurant and nightlife suggestions, as it places a very heavy emphasis on traditional Piemontese food and not enough emphasis on some of the more modern restaurants in the city. I'm sure the info about opening times and transport was accurate at the time of publication, but things in Turin change too quickly ... It lists things by district, the maps are easy to follow, it has both an alphabetical and street index, and it is small enough to carry around. The restaurant reviews were right on - I went by this guide for about 10 meals/drinks/desserts (all of which were great), and helped me discover places I would have overlooked. It includes restaurants for ALL budgets. The shopping guide helped me find niche shops and boutiques, not just chains, and also a lot of the stuff that I discovered on my own and LOVED was already in the book once I looked back to check on it.
