I just got this monday and we've already listened to it twice. I have 3 kids under the age of 4 and we all love it. I happened to listen in on my middle child playing with a doll and telling it it must be Beethoven because she wasn't listening. I will definitly buy more of these Classical Kids CD's!

I bought this CD solely based on the fact that I love the cello. I do not pretend to know classical music - I buy what I like to hear, and this CD exceeded my expectations. It is such a pleasure to listen to this disk; it is soothing and every track is worth it!

I saw the HD presentation in 2007 and was so impressed that I went back for the encore two weeks later. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that the Met would get a dvd of the production out so fast. I pre-ordered 2 copies the minute it was advertised. I am a devoted fan of Renee Fleming and she didn't disappoint; nor did Dmitri Hvorostovsky. Ramon Vargas was in excellent voice. The setting(for me) emphacized the isolation of the Russian steppe-vast landscape with few people. The ballroom scenes, with chairs hemming everyone in, seemed to symbolize the constrictions of conventional society. I was anxious to see that show. Unfortunatly there was lots of distraction during the showing. This is an on stage off stage show. It keeps moving around all the time so you don't get that intimate feeling which we are used to with Andre. Too many views of Wonderland disturbed my viewing

I liked the sequential introduction of the numbers from 1 through 5, and I also liked that when showing five objects, for example, they'd start with four and add the fifth one - that introduces the basic concept of addition to the little ones. My one-year-old son thinks this is great fun and will watch the entire thing (which is a feat, as he's quite active).
My problem, as always with every Baby Einstein video I've seen thus far, is the promotional material you HAVE to watch before you get to the feature of the DVD. Lots of movies have promotional material, but you can usually choose to watch it (or not). That should be the case here, too; the fact that you have no choice but to watch it is enough to dissuade me from buying too many more ... Read More:

This 2-CD compilation of historical recordings of great pianists doesn't have a single bad performance on it, and most are exemplary. Indeed, it makes one want to hear more from these men and women. That is probably Naxos's idea, too: they are in the midst of releasing a series called 'Great Pianists' and this disc is culled from that series. I'm sure they'd love you to buy the whole series! Understandably there are 'bleeding chunks' here; that is to say, we get single movements of concerti, single pieces from sets of works (like Chopin nocturnes or a single prelude and fugue from the Bach Well-Tempered Clavier).
