This is a version of the Marquis de Sade's story, The 120 Days of Sodom, a story about four powerful men who enslave two dozen teenagers and torture them repeatedly. Unlike the book the film is set in the Salò Republic, the Nazi puppet state in northern Italy, in the year 1944. Pier Paolo Pasolini directs his final film. The four powerful men in the story are referred to as the Duke, the Magistrate, the President and the Bishop. To kick things off they marry each other's daughters and then begin to have young males and females kidnapped (18 in all, 9 of each gender). I received this DVD as a gift & loved it. The characters were an absolute delight to watch. I enjoyed reading the book too but when words can come off a page & be seen on screen like this adaptation is, it's simply: any viewers delight!

This movie is more romantic than Pride, and I'm a big P&P fan! Even when you compare the books... The two leads in this movie were believable, sincere, and oh so romantic. Stick-thin Hollywood misses and heart-throb of the year don't do justice to Austin's work. A must own! And the scene when they finally get together? You have to see it to know what REAL, emotional acting is all about.

If your are a Bogie fan this film is a must! Katherine Hepburn is a virginal missionary and Bogie is a messy, loser who insists on saving her life. Of course, there is a love interest, but it's the darnest love story you'll ever see. There can't be any two less likely candidates for marraige than these two, but in the end ....

If you haven't seen it already I recommend "White Hunter, Black Heart" starring Clint Eastwood as John Huston who directs The African Queen. It gives you a clear indication of the type of man Huston was and why he's such a action-packed director. It's the story behind this film.

I've been following the movie Bella since it's intial beginning in 2006 and finally watching the movie it did not disappoint. It's hard to avoid cliches when writing about Bella because it wears its heart on it's sleeve. It's a movie with heart, a message, a purpose and lot's of love. The acting is amazing. The chemistry between the two lead actors Eduardo and Tammy is real. With a lot of mindless "garbage" out in theatres and available on DVD this is must have. Do yourself a favor and buy this DVD and share it with friends and family.

Ce film en deux discs est très intéressant car il démontre avec justesse la vie des ouvriers de cette époque. L'intrigue réussit à gagner l'intérêt du spectateur jusqu'à la fin. Les acteurs pour la plupart sont excellents surtout les acteurs secondaires. L'héroîne n'est pas des plus intéressantes malheureusement-elle paraît froide, sans profondeur et guindée mais ne réussit pas à amoindrir la qualité de cette mise en scène. Parfois quelques acteurs ne se font pas comprendre, ils ont tendence à avaler leurs mots alors il faut augmenter le son...Je ne donnerais pas 5 étoiles à cette production à cause de ce que je viens d'énumérer comme lacunes.
