The first reviewer was right; not a lot of bang for the buck. It's more of a sappy love story the further the plot progresses. Not to mention that the DVD itself comes in a cardboard case, rather than a traditional plastic one, allowing for the inevitable bends and creases due to standard delivery practices. As a lover of Futurama, I HAD to get this to add to my collection, but, in the future, I hope they try to focus more on the comedy.

R.CAIN,I would like to know the procedure involved with the FIRMWARE
update (dvd/internet???)

I thought the dvd's were blank, so I returned them and ordered again.
Unfortunatly, the 2nd were the same. Please provide me with the info on how to make these work on my hd dvd player.

HBO's The Wire is a compelling and gritty series that takes it's time to work through the details of policing and police work. Most 'cop'shows are slotted into hour long segments where the crime is committed, investigated and solved in 48 minutes plus commericals. The Wire spends time building a case and while doing so building a relationship between the viewers and the characters. The world of drug lords and dope dealers is alien to me ... the writers and the actors, however, managed to 'humanize' people who are usually only presented as deviant, defiant and dangerous. Marvelous television. Brilliant writing. Stunning acting. Awesome viewing.

Just got it and loving the first season so far. I noted that a reviewer suggested buying this at Amazon.com, but that is dated as it is still $200 there while only $150 here. Great deal. Saw it at another box store for $345!

I guess it's a harsh statement but following the comings and goings of stevedores (longshoremen to those of us out West) did not grip me as much as Season One where the drug dealers of West Baltmore were the focus.

I loved the way they started Season Two with McNulty on shore patrol which helped lead the series into this new world. It plods a bit as I found the stevedores not at all really likable or fascinatingly drawn personalities. They basically came across as lumps. Maybe that's what they are but the union boss Frank Sobotka is the least likely lead character to drive this season. He just seems "there" and that's about it.
Worse is his son, Ziggy, who was just plain obnoxious and with that scrawny body of his seems a very unlikely ... Read More:

Liked the dvd . Good song selections . Would have been better as a 2 DVD set with performances throughout their career . Maybe the next one will be longer .For now I would recommend it .

An equal match to the first superb season, quality-wise, better than season two (well, that one was different, anyway) the third season is just great viewing. Like all great film, it starts with the writing. Tight and inventive to say the least. (These guys know how to tell a story.) And then there's that cast. Simply great chemistry. Understated excellence. No spoilers here but between the ideas in this series, the overlaying metaphor, the symbolism... This is easily the best stuff on TV and far better than most recent film. (Yes, I know there's alot of great film too. I mean commercial film. You know, the kind that unfortunately makes money.)
