Black Books is a hilarious series that is full of ridiculous characters in the same vein as Father Ted, The Vicar of Dibley or Faulty Towers. It was written by Dylan Moran, Graham Linehan, (writer/director of Father Ted), Arthur Mathews, Kevin Cecil and Andy Riley.

Set in a small independent bookshop in the Bloomsbury area of central London. The show is based around the lives and strange antics of the eccentric, alcoholic owner Bernard Black (played by Dylan Moran) and his assistant Manny (played by Bill Bailey), and their friend Fran (played by Tamsin Greig).

In the first season, there would be a death, which would lead to a funeral, which led to the funeral home. The death and funeral would be tied into the ongoing story, a dimension they got away from in the second season. Otherwise the show is... near excellent. (And disappointing to have the fifth or sixth season playing in the US, and only the second in Canada.) The show is less about cliffhangers than everyday life. I suppose thats what they call "Drama". A drama well worth watching. Now I get to buy season three.

I almost think there was a typo when they created the title. It probably was and should have been The Boring Ultimatum. I am finally out of the hospital and now able to write a review, having been admitted for severe ad nauseum and vertigo after viewing this time-waster. I am sure it was caused from all the camera shaking. I have always believed if a director has to shake the crap out of a camera to give the feeling of "action" it can be a good thing if it is for a minute, but if it is for the whole movie, then there is a problem. It felt like it was filmed with a $60 handycam. This movie was so shaky all the way to the end, it was both annoying and extremely distracting from what little interest the flick generated for me. I absolutely love the cast in this season. Jess is a great character and I love the Jess, Rory, Dean love triangle. I like Lorelai's story line in this season too as she has some guy problems but of course everything works out in the end. The relationship between Rory and Lorelai is still the major reason for the shows popularity and it certainly is a great show. See for yourself.;)

I was turned off by the number of actors smoking in this series, a bit of a warning to parents who care about their children's health. This is a science fiction series and smoking would and should be totally unnecessary. The very public lack of scruples on this subject by the producer of this show unfortunately makes it impossible for me to recommend this otherwise excellent series.

Each time a member of the [film] industry releases another movie that depicts smoking, it does so with the full knowledge of the harm it will bring to children who watch it.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Season 1 [Blu-ray]

This was one of, if not THE best new series of last season. Despite the writer's strike shortening this series' first season down to only nine episodes, it was action packed! Forget the few negative reviews out there saying that it ignores T3, because that's a good thing. This is supposed to take place after T2, therefore T3 does not exist in this story line. The writing is clever and sticks to the Terminator canon. If you liked T1 and T2 and are willing to accept that this series uses them as its basis and goes in a slightly different direction, you'll love this series. Cult films don't come much more groundbreaking than "Dark City" -- it was bending reality before the Matrix ever did.

At first glance, Alex Proyas' movie seems like a basic sci-fi little-man-against-evil-aliens flick. But it isn't. Instead, it's a dark grimy nightmare where nothing is what it seems, and everything we think is real is just an elaborate illusion. This is one of the rare films that is creepy from start to finish.

The Strangers are pasty-faced, bald, leather-coat-wearing aliens (think Darth Vader, post-mask), whose survival depends on somehow imitating human souls and dreams. So they created the Dark City, to observe and manipulate the unwitting humans.
