. Keep It Simple
by: Van Morrison
April 01, 2008
The ever-enduring crooner returns with a collection of stripped-back, simple songs diverging how it feels to be reaching the twilight of life. Yet Van Morrison keeps all the controlled energy of someone who still has something to pass on to the world.
"Keep It Simple" is a mainly bluesy affair. He's returned to the usual mixture of autobiographical fare and the kind of mix of jazz, folk, blues, country and soul that may be chock-full of lyrical cliche but is always lifted by a voice that really hasn't deteriorated much in the last twenty years. Let's face it: the blues wouldn't be the blues without it's lyrical template. It's the way it's sung that matters, and Van is still peerless in this respect.
Husky, slurred, simple yet honest, ... Read More:

. Wavelength (Rm)
by: Van Morrison
February 05, 2008
Wavelength is a work of melodic rock and soul that ranks amongst Van Morrison ten best to this listener. The 1978 album has been enhanced by the addition of live versions of the title track and Kingdom Hall, recorded that same year at The Roxy in LA. The track Kingdom Hall is a full bodied rock song with a great hook and rousing vocals, Checkin' It Out a lilting mid-tempo ballad with baroque instrumental passages, Natalia a meandering love song.
Venice USA has a bouncy reggae rhythm, lovely organ and an addictive sing-along chorus, the slow ballad Lifetimes with its unusual instrumental mix is an extraordinary sonic experience whilst the title track with its handclaps and R&B vocals represents the artist at his most soulful. . Tupelo Honey (Rm)
by: Van Morrison
February 05, 2008
These melodies sneak up on you and linger long after the music has stopped. That is why Tupelo Honey is one of Van Morrison's most accessible and commercially successful albums. This re-release has been enhanced by the addition of Down By The Riverside and an alternate take of Wild Night. The packaging includes the original artwork and the lyrics to all the songs.
Tupelo Honey is a work of genius: there's the gorgeous title track with its delightful imagery and the swirling I Wanna Roo You with its foot tapping rhythm. The catchy When That Evening Sun Goes Down has a propulsive rhythm whilst the structural complexity of Moonshine Whisky, with its tempo changes and delectable female backing vocals, makes for a magnificent composition, ... I was never a huge fan of Van Morrison's and it did take a few listens for some of this to 'grab me and take hold' but that is just what this album did.
Morrison's raw, earthy vocals and poignant, touching lyics and catching melodies wooed their way into my heart many years ago and I will never forget them.
"When Will I Ever Learn" is a wistful masterpiece about our longing as believers in Christ, who struggle daily with the forces of good and evil all around us, to truly 'live in God'. "I'm Tired Joey Boy" is equally moving, as is the love song (to GOD) "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" (which became a monster hit when covered by Rod Stewart) and the deeply spiritual "These Are The Days", which celebrates salvation ... . Astral Weeks
by: Van Morrison
May 14, 1987
First time i listened to this, I though i had waste a complete hour... Second time, I though to myself: Yeah it's better this time.. Why not give it another chance?? The 3 Time, Wow.. It was wonderful... I realized that the wonderful Song ''Madame George'' was not long enough even if it's over 8 minutes. I was trying to feel The songs. I knew Van Morrison one month ago and listened to the album moondance first.. It was also really good but now i realize that Astral Weeks is much Better. All songs on the album are at least 5 stars except for beside you witch i give a 4 star. Everyone needs it. It's a kind of bible witch chords!
