I am so impressed with this album. It is in my opinion, neither classic country nor is it rock. Johnny Reid is a sound all on his own. I work at a music store and I have recommended Johnny Reid to many people without any bad reviews. I start my day with him and I am very happy with it. Give him a try...never know, you just might like it. My favorite track is number 9, "To the end of the road".

Not as highly renowned as "Green River" or "Cosmo's Factory", "Pendulum" may need a little time to assimilate, but in time it will grow on you.

These songs aren't as immediately memorable as hit singles like "Proud Mary" or "Bad Moon Rising", but it is quite interesting to hear how John Fogerty spent time arranging, polishing, trying out new styles, adding keyboards and horns to the "classic" Creedence sound. Sure, the instrumental "Rude Awakening #2" sounds suspiciously like progressive rock, which certainly wasn't Creedence's forté, but the vast majority of these songs are excellent. The first time I heard Bayou Country right after it's release in
January 1969, it blew me away. This was truly a unique sound
that captured the imagination of practically every kid who had a guitar
or even the slightest interest in starting a garage rock band.
From the haunting, opening E7th chord salvos in "Born on the
Bayou" to one of the staples of 60's/70's pop, "Proud Mary"
and ending with the catchy, rhythmic "Keep on Chooglin' ", this album continues to amaze me how it still grabs the musical psyche.
Creedence took the San Fran. rock style of the late 60's and made it a little more palatable to the main stream.

I've been a fan of The Hip since the beginning and I have to say that to date, I've loved every album. As I've always said about listening to The Hip, it takes attention and a few listens to really get excited about the songs. That's not to say that the music isn't fantastic - it certainly is, but after all the fluff that makes it on the radio these days, it's hard for the ears and the brain to sometimes really tune into a good song and "get it".

What makes The Hip special is that it is always about the music. They are not making claims to "Biggest Band in the World", attending parties, lining up music awards or carrying the bling. This album has really good songs and superb playing. I thought the 'mix' of the album was 'real' sounding, there's room ambience on the vocals, the drums sound nice and huge. It's sounds really warm and real. All acoustic instruments sound very authentic.

Helms voice still sounds great. This belongs on your shelf if you like American music.

This Brian Setzer show is awesome! The sound quality is excellent and Brian puts on a very entertaining show. The selection of songs is a nice mixture of Christmas and Brian Setzer/Stray Cats songs.
