Although Amy Winehouse has been on the music scene since the release of her debut album "Frank", in 2003, it is only since the release of her latest album, last year's "Back To Black", that she has made any real impact.
"Frank" may have earned her a Mercury Music Award nomination and an Ivor Novello award, but she had very little chart success with the album or singles.
On "Frank" she sounds as if she has performed a thousand times in smoky jazz clubs.
So it comes as some surprise to learn that she is just 24 and was raised in north London.
Sitting somewhere between Nina Simone and Erykah Badu, Winehouse's sound is at once innocent and sleazy.

I will be honest I wanted Hallelujah off of this album. It is fantastic! However this album is also a great choice for anyone who loves Leonard Cohen's songs. K. D.Lang's voice is of course, phenomenal!

Nineteen of ABBA's best songs are plenty, but you won't tire of them. It is amazing that four Swedes (Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus as writers and Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Fältskog as the main singers) could take such simple English cliches and turn them into pop music magic. Despite sometimes maddeningly simple lyrics, the song arrangements were unnervingly catchy and the multi-level layered compostions are fascinating. The keyboards and synthesizers were used in some of the more ingenious ways during the seventies to produce that unmistakeable ABBA sound. Doesn't get any better than this cd. Velvet smooth vocals, extraordinary production & supporting musicians. While the song mix may be somewhat eclectic, there would be no disputing that the Bublé signature has been carefully and respectfully put to each and every song. As Canada's Juno Choice as Best New Artist only a few short years ago, Bublé now finds himself recognized with 5 (five!) Juno nominations for this years awards - homegrown talent has hit the world stage. Long live Michael Bublé, who talks proudly about our great country and I'm proud of him, a Canadian Crooning Treasure.
