I am having a hard time understanding the buzz around this band. This is honestly an average album. NEUROSIS and TOOL have been making the same brand of music for about 15 years now. Porcupine Tree just doesn't stand up to these legendary bands, and in fact, they're boring by comparison. Not dark enough, not tough enough, not raw enough: this is basically standard commercial alternative rock. I wouldn't be surprised to hear any of these tracks released on commercial radio. That's basically what this album is; a collection of slightly above-average radio songs. I guess if you're bored and looking for something new, this album will surely please. But even the MINISTRY are producing better stuff than this right now. "In Abstentia" ... Read More:

by: The Alan Parsons Project

The Alan Parsons Project really came at the wrong time. When the music industry was desperate to sign up punk bands who could barely play a few chords, here was a collective of skilled musicians, sublimating their own identities in support of a producer with prog-rock leanings. And by the time CD technology arrived, the Alan Parsons Project had already cut most of their best work, and the problem was that, when it came to replacing our favourite LPs with the CD version, APP albums weren't typically top of our list. So I will be the first to admit that I've neglected APP over the years. It is over 20 years since I heard this album and, having just bought it on CD, it is sheer joy to hear so many high-quality tracks that I'd had nagging in the back ... Read More:

I guess after a decade of making some of the heaviest and wonderfully odd-sounding metal albums, you have to take a breath. Although it is disconcerting to know that they lost the best musician in the band-drummer Reed Mullin-after this album. It must have been fairly soon after, since the new guy Jimmy Bower is on "Live Volume." Oh well, Machine Head lost the best drummer I have ever heard, Chris Kontos, and they sucked before and after. The energy on this one is stilted some, probably since the riffs don't really build up, and there are a lot of slower, ballady songs interspersed between the sonics. The quirkiest riff you will ever hear is "Sleeping Martyr." Listen to them try and get even closer to their blues-and-bluegrass roots with ... Read More:

September 30, 2003
I have a small DVD-Audio collection and I have to say that the sound quality of this disc just made my jaw drop the first time I listened to it. Most discs sound superb, but you know you're listening to a recording. This was indistiguishable from the real thing. I honestly felt like Hootie and the Blowfish set up in my basement and put on an sonically perfect performance. If you're a fan, you'll love this disc. Artistically, the performance great, but the sound engineers just did something spectacular with this one. With a proper surround setup, you won't be disappointed.

The Blue Man Group is one of the more unique acts in theater today. Taking the stage in New York, Boston, Chicago and Las Vegas are the three Blue Men who communicate only with facial expressions, action and music. Their shows are part music and part vaudeville, but the amazing aspect is all the instruments the Blue Men play are homemade. From xylophone looking PVC drums, to Drumbones, to chewing Captain Crunch in time, these men make noise from anything they can get their hands on, except for this noise is musical. Hence the album "Audio", which is an audio excursion through the sounds of the Blue Man Group and their sounds from a strange assortment of rhythm instruments. The album covers many of the songs played during their performance, plus more. The rhythms are ... Read More:
