This re-release by Verve preserves, in my opinion, one of the best trio performances. 'In the Still of the Night',
Peterson's subtle single melody nuances and left hand chords are complimented by Ray Brown's wonderful bass. Ed Thigpen maintains the tempo with his stylish brush technique. The rest of the CD is hampered only slightly by the 'volme' inconsistencies from one number to the next, created by the studio. This is a great CD.

Although it's almost forty years old, this album sounds so fresh. Mitchell's guitar and piano is wonderfully fluid. And then there's her voice. An instrument so fine, the notes send shivers down the spine. Part of the mystique of this album is the honesty, even fragility of emotions. But there's just as much artistry in Joni Mitchell's Blue. A melancholy beauty. A well-worked gem of an album. The kind of music I remember hearing in kitchens with granola in the cupboard. Or at dawn just as the first birds start to sing. Frost on the grass.

This is a wonderful compilation of some of his best-loved songs, and I find it common for me to just play it over and over again,ad nauseum. I was a teenager in the 60's and didn't really pay much attention to him during those early years, but somehow the truth, magic and wonder of this man's incredible talent grew on me and its clear to see that it just shines through the plethora of artists who have come and gone over the years. His songs such as 'Stay Loose' and 'Ribbon of Darkness'(not on this album) are so powerful , they helped me feel, and understand the depth of pain and the eventual recovery of a tragic period in my life when my marriage failed. This CD is my favorite Raffi CD ever. Baby Beluga and Joshua Giraffe are both FANTASTIC!! My 4-year-old son loves them and asks to hear them over and over. These songs are full length, unlike a lot of Raffi music. I can't say enough about this CD.

ok...I admit I am a huge fan of both Burton and Randy, but was expecting to hear just another run of the mill covers album. Boy was I wrong. The boys really created something special here. It nostalgic, fun, and is one of those albums you want to listen to from start to finish. You will find yourself cranking up the volume. Burton's playing and vocals are stellar. His seemingly effortless vocal delivery on the Cliff Richard tune "Don't Talk To Him" is simply amazing and the song could easily be a hit on radio. Randy's guitar work is superb, and his vocals on this album will knock your socks off! Take a listen and hear how "The Letter", and "Who Do You Love" totally rock.
