It's got to be one of the most inspirational recordings I've ever heard. It's so simple - a couple of guys and a girl singing along with a piano - and yet it'll blow you out of your socks with how powerful it is. I was going through one such struggle myself a few days ago, and I prayed and asked God for reassuance. The very next day my Selah CDs arrived in the mail from Amazon.com. To put it simply my prayers were answered. I put the CD on and began doing the dishes. All the way through the disc I was pulled alternately between wanting to jump for joy and weep with gratitude. .Godspell City Travel Guides > Music > Christian and Gospel by: Various Artists May 27, 1997 I'm currently involved in a production of Godspell and have been listening to most of the recordings of the show that I can find - this original cast, the movie, the 1993 cast, and the 2001. Overall, I think this is the best of the bunch: it has the energy, it's true to the published score, and has many of the best soloists. I particularly like this Jesus (the original Stephen) - he doesn't have the best voice in a classic sense, but I think he conveys the emotion better than the others. My big reservation with this recording is the presence of the operetic tenor (Lamar?) that solos on 'All Good Gifts'. This album consists of 26 songs on 1 CD but the band separates the album into two parts, the first part "The Nashville Tennis EP" (say it aloud) which is made of new songs, and "The Birds and the Beesides" which is made of alternate versions to previously released songs and several older previously unreleased songs. As well this album marks the departure of long time drummer and background vocalist Dave Douglas. Fortunately his replacement Ethan Luck is able to pick up where he left off without comprising the "Relient K" sound in anyway. I love it more each time I listen to it. I wasn't overly familiar with most of these songs, but after hearing these amazing versions, I'm really not interested in hearing the studio versions -- I'm sure they'd all be letdowns! How could there possibly be better versions of these songs anywhere?? I heard "Cupid" on the radio yesterday for the first time(!!) and this live version just blows me away compared to the studio version, as good as it is!
