Clearly, I haven't yet heard the whole album. I have checked out her reality programme and the clips on her web site. To my ear she has that indefinable something that connects with an audience. I hear bits of Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin and the young Billie Holiday. A powerful new voice and new perspective.

Lil Wayne may have the reputation of useless lyrics and a hard-core image, but this album changes everything. From hard-core gangster to soulful and smooth beats to amazing lyrics and metaphors. Enclosed is the best work I believe Lil Wayne has done. Features some smash hits such as "Lollipop" (Ft. Static Major) "Kush" & "Dr. Carter". Both "Kush" & "Dr. Carter" contain a very catchy, smooth and danceable beat which creates intrest into the song, then the words capture you.
Without a doubt, Lil Wayne made us wait since 2006 for a real album (Made plenty of Mixtapes) but I personally think was worth the wait. Cop this album!

The first time I listened to their songs, in my basement, I found this CD interessing. I put all the songs on my mp3, and as I was sitting in a bus, I realized that is was a space transportation music. Well, for me... I relax, I forget my problems and I just let myself listen to this magnificient music. 'Speed Of Sound' and 'Talk' did the best effect that I was talking about , anf 'Fix You' is another great composition. The lyrics are beautiful too. I realize that the whole CD was full of great songs like this, reminding U2 younger. Good music for teens and adults at the same time. A great mix, a perfect CD. I'll be looking forward on Coldplay...

It's not necessarily his 16 best songs, but these are arguably his 16 best-known ones. A casual Neil Young listener myself, I found this collection to be a decent, no-frills sampler of his career, similar in scope to the Bachman-Cummings Songbook cd by touching on various solo & group work. It does focus on his prime 70's period, so don't expect any 80's electronica experiments or 90's Pearl Jam collaborations here (although the 80's & 90's are represented by one song each), just the great standards heard every day on classic rock radio. The sound is nicely remastered, and although it does miss many of his classics, it is a pretty good starting point for those getting into the guy's catalogue. This is an outstanding recording, completely deserving of the "Best Album" Grammy that it won in 2008. It's unprecedented for a jazz recording to get that honor, and a huge accomplishment for Hancock and his stellar cast.

Each of the contributors brings something a little different. To my ear, Corinne Bailey Rae's take on River, a much covered song, is definitive and perfect, and is my favorite. Contributions by Joni herself, Tina Turner, Norah Jones and all the others seldom miss a beat.

Instrumentally, this is a jazz album (and not in the jazz-lite world of Norah Jones and her ilk), and probably will be difficult for many accustomed to the pop environment to appreciate at first. It's spare at times, and at others lush, always complex and ... Read More:
