Though it can be easily argued that OneCare isn't the most comprehensive security application available, there's more to PC health than just security.

Since installing OneCare my files are backed up, my printers are shared, and my computer loads and runs faster. I also like the ability to monitor the status of up to three computers, Microsoft calls this your OneCare Circle. By adding my Mom's computer in Calgary to my Circle I'm able to keep tabs on her machine even though I'm 300 kilometers away in Edmonton!

OneCare is a great program which seems to be continually improving, and I hope Norton and McAfee steal a page from it's playbook. Good-work!

Not only did I check with Consumer Reports, but I called family and friends before I bought McAfee. I had previously used "Windows Live One Care" with no problems, but it is not even listed in the "top ten" of anti-virus protection. Norton was placed second best, but I heard too many horror stories. This 2009 version was very easy, easy, easy to install. Immediately, I noticed that on every website listed (after a GOOGLE search), there were colored check marks indicating which sites were `safe' and which sites were `risky' to open. Holding your cursor over the checked mark gives you more detailed information. McAfee actually checked all these sites BEFORE they made this program.

This anti-virus is fairly reliable and in my tests blocked all outside connections. Even when my Internet Service Provider tried to diagnose my dsl modem over the phone it could not get through because Norton internet security 2008 was running on my computer. This software will definitely guarantee a hacker and virus proof pc. But all of this comes at a price; performance. as soon as i installed NIS2008 my computer became sluggish and my shutdown and boot times tripled. This is specially apparent on vista, even on my quad core. if you don't care about performance then get this product now but if you do look for something more resource light.
p.s. make sure you have at least 2gb of ram on your pc before you install this.
