It will show you that love can be found in unexpected places. This fairly tale takes place a long time ago. Belle¢s father, an inventor, was on his way to a fair, but took a wrong turn and ended up at a castle. When he doesn¢t return home, Belle sets off to look for him, and in turn becomes a prisoner in the ferocious beast¢ castle, where it¢s filled with talking furniture, who in the end turn back into there human form. It is just as wonderful as I remembered and certainly remains one of my all-time favourite films. At the risk of sounding repetitious after the 216 other reviewers I will explain why. Dirty Dancing is set in a summer resort in the Catskills in 1963, a gentler, simpler time when the world (or at least the North American middle class part of it) was innocent and naïve & hovered on the cusp of vast social change. It was before the Kennedy assassination & the morass of Viet Nam, before student riots and feminism and The Pill, before the Beatles, and just as Motown music was hitting our consiousness. .Someone to Watch Over Me starring: Tom Berenger, Mimi Rogers, Lorraine Bracco, Jerry Orbach, John Rubinstein directed by: Ridley Scott November 13, 1996 This movie is fantastic. Mimi Rogers plays a wealthy socialate who witnesses a murder. The killer is after her. Tom Berenger plays a detective who along with two other detectives are assigned to protect her. He takes the night shift. He is married and has a son. He is impressed by Mimi Rogers upper class lifestyle, her beautiful apartment, classical music, she is a very classy lady. I must say Mimi Rogers was perfect for the part she is beautiful and carries herself so gracefully. Tom Berenger is a blue collar detective. The two actors have excellent chemistry. Tom Berenger is married. A romance begins with Tom Berenger and Mimi Rogers. The killer is released on a mistake which was made for his arrest. ... Under President Eisenhower's administration, everyone has a house in the suburbs, a decent job, a gas-guzzling car, and a basic "Leave It to Beaver" lifestyle. Not so, said Hubert Selby, in his novel, LAST EXIT TO BROOKLYN. For a good deal of the working class, times were still tough. Preyed upon by crime, toyed with by factory owners and unions, and, ultimately, shackled by their own ignorance, the working class had their promise of a white picket fence and primrose garden vacated. .Prince of the City starring: Treat Williams, Jerry Orbach, Richard Foronjy, Don Billett, Kenny Marino directed by: Sidney Lumet March 26, 1996 A facinating account of a NYC cop who has a crisis of conscience. He wanted to be a good cop but is caught up by the circumstances around him. A terrific performance by Treat Williams. Superbly directed by Sidney Lumet. New York City gritty.
