. Roots: The Next Generation
starring: Georg Stanford Brown, Olivia de Havilland, Henry Fonda, Paul Koslo, Avon Longdirected by: Georg Stanford Brown, John Erman
January 15, 2002
I believe a review worth reading should include a brief description of the person giving their thoughts. To me,this helps a great deal in deciding how much credibility I will give a person's thinking. I am a white male,48 years old, happily married going on nineteen years with five children and six grandchildren.I was born in the state of Texas, and raised to befriend people based on their actions-not the color of their skin.I,like most people, have been influenced often times by what has been taught through traditions or hearsay instead of facts, because facts often times takes some effort to discover. I have just recently read the book Roots, and was so overcome by a multitude of aroused emotions I purchased the mini-series on DVD.My wife, children ... Read More:

. Dark City
starring: Rufus Sewell, Kiefer Sutherland, Jennifer Connelly, Richard O'Brien, Ian Richardsondirected by: Alex Proyas
March 02, 1999
Cult films don't come much more groundbreaking than "Dark City" -- it was bending reality before the Matrix ever did.
At first glance, Alex Proyas' movie seems like a basic sci-fi little-man-against-evil-aliens flick. But it isn't. Instead, it's a dark grimy nightmare where nothing is what it seems, and everything we think is real is just an elaborate illusion. This is one of the rare films that is creepy from start to finish.
The Strangers are pasty-faced, bald, leather-coat-wearing aliens (think Darth Vader, post-mask), whose survival depends on somehow imitating human souls and dreams. So they created the Dark City, to observe and manipulate the unwitting humans.
Our hero John Murdoch (Rufus Sewell) wakes up naked ... Read More:

. The Taking of Beverly Hills
starring: Ken Wahl, Matt Frewer, Harley Jane Kozak, Robert Davi, Lee Vingdirected by: Sidney J. Furie
September 01, 1998
"The Taking of Beverly Hills" is an action-packed thrill ride of a movie! I know, because the very first time I saw it, it was sooooooo good that I just had to watch it again. And each time I watch "Beverly Hills", it gets better and better throughout. I had to give credit to Ken Wahl on the lead performance as a quarterback football player. To me, whenever I see this movie, it kind of asks me this question..."How can one man go through an entire night of running from the bad guys that are robbing the city of Beverly Hills as if this is some kind of real life-or-death football game all of a sudden?" Well, I don't have the answer to that one just yet. But anyway, to anyone on this website, DO NOT MISS THIS FILM!!!

. Mr. Jones
starring: Richard Gere, Lena Olin, Anne Bancroft, Tom Irwin (II), Delroy Lindodirected by: Mike Figgis
April 07, 1998
This is a pretty good movie I thought. Richard Gere plays Mr.Jones a man who suffers from manic depression who has suicidal tendencies. When I saw it I thought this is one of Richard Gere's best performances in a long time. He really did a great job and it is probably the best acting that I've seen him do in quite awhile. Lena Olin is also very good as the psychiatrist who takes an interest in him both as a patient and in the personal sense. I really liked this movie and have added to my movie collection. It is one of those rare movies that you can see just about anytime. Overall is a good movie but if you need more convincing than that then see it beause of Richard Gere he is excellent in this film and that should be reason enough I think.
