. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
City Travel Guides > VHS > Animation
starring: Bill Melendez, Todd Barbeedirected by: Bill Melendez, Phil Roman
August 24, 2004
Unlike the timeless 5-star Christmas and Halloween classics, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving falls short. Here the gang has been transplanted from the small-town Midwest with its dark, cold fall and winters to some suburban-type setting where people can walk around in shorts in late-November. Instead of the earnest adult-like children, we get an attempt at early-70s hip wisecracking. Further severely dating the show to 1973 is the soundtrack, typified by the horrid jazzy blues vocal number "Little Birdy" and a fight snoopy has with an animated lawn chair (segment is total filler). The voiceovers are distracting too. Although, the actors who did the Christmas and Halloween specials were certainly well into adolescents by the ... Read More:

. Veggie Tales - Rack, Shack & Benny
City Travel Guides > VHS > Animation
from: Kids Motion
August 25, 1998
Veggie Tales star in the story of the Fiery Furnace. Rack, Shack and Benny are faced with a challenge to their faith - bow down to a god other than the God they believe in or die. Our three heroes bravely, albeit a bit hesitantly at first, stand up for what they believe in and get sent to the Fiery Furnace. But their God remembers them just as they remembered Him and intercedes in a majestic way, amid plenty of light and awestruck bystanders. The songs in this movie are catchy and the message is solid - stand up for what is right, no matter the cost. The Silly Songs segment features Larry performaing "The Dance of the Cucumber" which is the most hilarious Silly Song ever!!! The translation by Bob the Tomato is guaranteed to leave you laughing as you watch Bob's ... Read More:

. Make Mine Music
City Travel Guides > VHS > Animation
starring: Nelson Eddy, Dinah Shore, Jerry Colonna, Andy Russell, Sterling Hollowaydirected by: Joshua Meador, Jack Kinney
June 01, 2004
I just got this on DVD today.I love all the cartoons but some of them don't tell an actuall story. The ones that did were Blue Bayou,Peter and the Wolf,Casey at the Bat,The whale Who Wanted to sing at the Met and Johnie Fedora and Alice Bluebonnet.I bought this disk because Blue Bayou was originally supposed to be part of Fantasia,Peter and the Wolf was narrated by Winnie-the-Pooh,The Whale Who Wanted to Sing at the Met had a very cute whale and it has The Band Concert (Mickey's first color cartoon) as a bonus episode.Like every Disney Gold collection,it doesn't have that much features. In fact,it only had 1.So take it or leave it.How come the All the Cats Join In segment didn't have any cats?Recomended.

. Mumfie-the Movie
City Travel Guides > VHS > Animation
from: Paramount Home Video
July 17, 2001
My daughter and I have watched this video many times and are delighted every time. It's so wonderful to watch something today that actually promotes goodness and kindness. Mumfie is a lovely character who collects friends wherever he goes.. And also gets into many misadventures inspite of his goodness. It's a long film and worth every second. I highly recommend and I am a video distributor and have seem zillions of films...But this is one of my favorite family/childrens films.

. Petes Dragon
City Travel Guides > VHS > Animation
starring: Helen Reddy, Jim Dale, Mickey Rooney, Red Buttons, Shelley Wintersdirected by: Don Chaffey
May 20, 2003
I remember this movie from my childhood, so I bought it for my toddler. He loves it. My son points at the DVD case and grunts. He watches it everyday (for 2 weeks now). It must be the music and singing because the storyline is lackluster. Everytime he sees the dragon or hears a song he starts chattering away with his gibberish pre-talk. My preferred character is Doc Terminus - the con man / man of science. I give it 4 stars because I have watched it so many times the melodies are stuck in my head. I hope he gets a new "favorite" movie soon :)
