directed by: Jim Fall

Cutie-Pie Christian Campbell & Hunk-of-the-Month JP Pitoc star in this "Here!" TV movie about one night in the life of two young guys just lookin' for a place to do it. The laughs are few & far between but the attractive cast, the pre-millenium NY skyline and the music sound track make this earnest & nostalgic piece of fluff quite watchable. 90min.

Fans of "La Femme Nikita" finally get to see Roy Dupuis emote in this chamber drama. Dupuis plays Yves, a tortured prostitute, who has murdered his lover. The film plays out as a police interrogation, the detective slowing drawing out the harrowing details from Yves.

If you are looking for a police drama with lots of action, this is not the movie for you. If you appreciate intricate character studies, then "Being At Home With Claude" delivers.

Dupuis owns this movie through and through. The film is Yves's confession and largely takes place in one room with just the police detective. In such a restricted setting, Dupuis holds our attention with his ability to convey a variety of different emotions: ... Read More:

City Travel Guides > VHS > Gay and Lesbian
starring: Elizabeth Taylor, Marlon Brando, Brian Keith, Julie Harris, Zorro David
directed by: John Huston

January 20, 1993
John Huston's "Reflections In A Golden Eye" is one of his lesser-known works. This overlooked film is a riveting piece of Cinema. He brought together the unlikely combination of Carson McCuller's southern gothic novel along with the talents of Elizabeth Taylor, Marlon Brando, and Julie Harris to create a fascinating study of deceit, lies, and murder.
Julie Harris brings to the project her unique blend of neurosis and pathos. She inhabits the role as Allison the mentally fragile wife of Brian Keith fully, coloring her role with the nuance of madness.
Keith gives his best performance as the philandering husband of Harris and the bumbling lover of Taylor. It is his finest hour on the screen. His pathetic recollection of his lost ... Read More:

directed by: Donna Deitch

This film contains what may well be the most powerful & well-done love scene I have ever seen on film. If only everyone's "first time" with his or her lover could be this beautiful! Ah, well. Actors can rehearse, as Shaver & Charbonneau did, according to director Dietch. But ordinary real-life lovers have no such luxury . . .

My main problem with the film was its portrayal of Frances Packer. Don't get me wrong--Audra Lindley's performance is terrific (& such a pleasant surprise after only having seen her in __Three's Company__!). But Dietch & Cooper made Mrs. Packer out to be a venomously lonely & alcoholic homophobe. Rule's portrayal of her in the novel is much more sympathetic & broad-minded.

starring: Michèle Laroque, Jean-Philippe Écoffey, Hélène Vincent, Georges Du Fresne, Daniel Hanssens
directed by: Alain Berliner

I have never seen a more beautiful and innocent movie. Everything is realistically displayed through the eyes of a 7 year old boy, Ludovic. He believes himself to be a "girlboy" because god accidentally dropped his X chromosome into the trash which ultimately turned Ludovic into a boy. The movie is heartwrenching, but remains completely innocent. The whole atmosphere is innocense. I cried so hard while watching the movie. As the film progresses, Ludovic becomes less himself, choosing things based on other people's judgements than his own. He begins to become more timid, introverted, and tortured. His spirit is killed by everyone around him, especially his mother who supported him in the beginning. His mom cuts his hair; an asset that made him feel more feminine, ... Read More:

directed by: Jonathan Demme

March was Oscar month, and TCM (Turner Classic Movies) who showcase great Oscar movied showed ''Philadelphia'' with Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington .

''Philadelphia'' is the powerful movie about a well educated and hardworking lawyer named Andy Beckette who contracts AIDS and is then illegally and prejudicely fired from his law firm when they find out he has AIDS.

The movie is nothing short of Excellent demonstrating not only the cold-blooded and hypocritical members of corporte society, but the indignities and prejudices that people living with AIDS have to go through.

The movie also brilliantly shows the courtroom tactics and lies that defendants and lawyers will use in order to win their case. The Defense (who represents the Law Firm ... Read More:

I must say it's really sad that the powers that be can't find the time to make a more positive, constructive movie, especially when it includes a gay character.I really don't see the point in movies that either try to make the character from gay to straight or have a humorous spin on being gay,it's not funny being gay,to bad that more serious movies with uplifting positive gay themes were made instead of this immature toliet humor, where movie goers all hope that the girlfriend of the gayman will make him straight or being gay is all about disease, perverted old men or heartache.Alas i'm asking to much from straight morons and self hateing homosexuals who produce stupid negative movies toward gay men or lesbien woman to wake up and be more positive rather than negative, this crap is ... It's not your run of the mill movie with tons of special effects and no story line. This movie has a story, and if you can get past the oddness of it a very touching one. Good performances, cheers to Vincent D-Onofrio. This man is not afraid of any movie role that comes his way, and if you watch this movie you'll see what I mean. He tackled this role all the way!

I must say that this was an excellant film all around. The quality of the production and the acting was outstanding. DeCaprio did a fantastic job, in fact the best acting I've ever seen him do to date. I was totally impressed with the story and I could not find one poor performance in the film. The script is based a true story with damatic additions I'm sure, however it was a very enjoyable film if only for the chance to see what I believe is some of the finest acting I've ever seen. This is a fantastic investment and a must for the video collection. Be aware that most of the film deals with subject matter best viewed by adults because of sexual content, implied sex acts and nudity. This is not a film for narrow minds or prudish thinkers.

Why do other try to be Siskel & Ebert in their overworded reviews?
I like this movie. I never saw the play (didn't know it was one). But I like this movie. I've watched it several times and honestly can say that I enjoy it each time.
Jason Alexander is especially good in it.
I recommend.
