My friend Dave had this $20,000 Sony stereo system and I bought this Welcome to My Nightmare video to surprise him one day. Both of us are huge Alice Cooper fans. Dave likes the Greatest Hits CD the best, I love "Welcome to my Nightmare" and "Billion Dollar Babies" alot. So, we popped it in and woah!!! Even with his eq's, filters, and different components, it sounded mediocre, borderline crappy. On my stereo (Sony 500 Watt receiver), I dont have any filters or eq's, the audio sounded like crap! PLUS the video footage itself is horrible!!!!! Bad lighting, bad footage, cheap cameras, etc...I was so PIST bcz I paid like $15 and wasnt able to return it!!!!! I have been looking for this video for the last four years. It is one of the best videos I have ever seen. I recommend you buy this video if you are a serious fan of Alice-in-Chains. Most of the customer reviews refer to the VHS tape of the same name which is a documentary film of an AC/DC concert filmed in Paris. This is NOT a DVD version of the tape but has completely different content, essentially a number of interviews with various journalists talking about the band and their albums. All of the hits which made Styx one of the top bands of the late '70s and 80s are included in this fine video. Classics such as "Come Sail Away", "Renegade", and "The Best of Times" bring this video to life, but the two songs which, in my opinion, are the best of all are Dennis DeYoung's excellent rendition of "Lorelei" and Tommy Shaw's uplifting "Fooling Yourself". Jy even gets in some keyboard time on "Lorelei", while Tommy's unmatched acoustic guitar playing shines through on "Fooling Yourself". I was interested to see this newly re-masteded concert, so I fired up my home theatre and gave this DVD a spin. I only made it half way through before turning it off, the sound was good, but there is no way that this was a live sound, my guess is that the sound was either re-recorded or re-dubbed and it left me with the impression that you were listening to a CD! and not a live concert. Second, the so called re-mastered picture was also a disappointment, there was too much grain and artifacts present that it gave the feel of watching an old film projected image from my days at high school! The LedZep -magic can be found here, although only half of the band is presented. If you like/love Led Zeppelin and it's music and are interested in music in general so you'll love the new versions and arrangments you really should add this to your collection. Jimmy Page is still the guitar genius and Robert Plant is one of the best singers in the world. Picture is good, sound is good. Music is good. What are you waiting for? My warmest recommendations?
