.Over the Hill City Travel Guides > VHS > Action and Adventure starring: Olympia Dukakis, Sigrid Thornton, Derek Fowlds, Bill Kerr, Steve Bisley directed by: George Miller June 11, 1996 "Over The Hill" is good. I watched it on the Independent Film Channel. What I liked most about the film: 1)The main character. 2)The engaging road story. 3)What HAPPENS in the road story. 4)The action. What I didn't exactly like about the film: 1)The ending. Way too fast of an ending. 2)The main character's downward slope into depression and anger. It's a George Miller film. It seems as though he can make anything interesting. Whether it be about driving on mindless roads or cooking fish, it's all just too entertaining. Maybe the most powerful image from this production is the moment when Allen breaks into tears listening to an old Ramones 8 track, driving his Porsche back to California or maybe when he transforms himself into a black jazz musician ... .Going Bananas City Travel Guides > VHS > Action and Adventure from: Hgv Video Production June 25, 1996 They didn't want this movie to be funny, well, THAT funny anyways. It was hilarious. Stupid. Bad acting. Terrible plot. The works. It was downright foolish. But, it was still hilarious. I'll give you a little insight on what you're getting into. A little monkey befriends a little kid. Only the monkey, no doubt portrayed by a midget in a costume, talks. That's right, he talks. The end of the film is simply pee-your-pants hilarious when the monkey flies off a dock and jumps onto the boys boat, all the while yelling the kids name and screaming: "Biiiiiiilly!" I was in naval aviation near the time this was written about, and know the aircraft depicted. The depictions are accurate; one of the rare movies not to throw in the wrong airplane in a battle scene. Like many other similar films about that period (Midway, Pearl Harbor, Tora, Tora, Tora, etc.) using U.S. Navy film footage from the color documentary, filmed aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, The Fightin Lady, the footage shown was appropriate for the type of aircraft shown, including my favorite naval fighter of all time, the F6F "Hellcat" Grumman fighter which is credited with shooting down nearly eighty percent ... If you ever saw this film at the time of its release you'll be very dissapointed. A lot of gory violence and "permissive sensual shots" has been chopped off. Thus I suggest you don't buy this DVD. And, of course, the film is presented in a fullscreen format. Cutting was the operative word for this "Gold series" DVD edition from A-Pix Entertainment. .Breakout City Travel Guides > VHS > Action and Adventure starring: Charles Bronson, Robert Duvall, Jill Ireland, Randy Quaid, Sheree North directed by: Tom Gries March 21, 2000 Here we have a very talkative Charles Bronson in a sub-par prison escape film. It seemed like more of a comedy than anything else. A nice turn by Randy Quaid as Bronsons goofy mechanic and a small part for Duvall. I still can't figure out why on the theatrical poster it shows a helicopter flying with a man dangling from a rope!?! It never happened in this movie but it is fun nonetheless.
