. Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day
City Travel Guides > VHS > Animation
starring: Sebastian Cabot, Sterling Holloway, John Fiedler, Jon Walmsley, Hal Smithdirected by: Wolfgang Reitherman
October 07, 1997
This is my all-time favorite DISNEY series. I've been watching the entire set of tapes for WTP since I was about 2 or 3 and I STILL never get tired of it! There are 3 episodes in all, and if you were to put em together, you'd get what they call "The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh". This is but one of the many chapters that were used in that movie but all 3 used to have to be sold seperately back in the day. However, I was one of the lucky ones to get the COMPLETE VHS boxed-set that had all 3 Pooh-Bear episodes including: "Winnie The Pooh And The Honey "(1966), "Winnie The Pooh And The Blustery Day"(1968), "Winnie the Pooh And Tigger Too!"(1974). Yes, it even had the BONUS episode, "Winnie The Pooh And A Day For Eeyore"(1983). Blustery Day ... Read More:

. Many Adventures of Winnie/Pooh
City Travel Guides > VHS > Animation
starring: Sterling Holloway, Paul Winchell, Sebastian Cabot, Junius Matthews, Howard Morrisdirected by: John Lounsbery, Wolfgang Reitherman

The Winnie the Pooh shorts, were always cartoon favorites from my childhood, and they always will; My favorites had always been Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day from 1968 (which earned an Oscar for best short), and Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too from 1974 (though Rabbit getting lost the Dark Forest used to scared me as kid; But not anymore).
Now in 1977, the beloved shorts,we all loved had been put together, and maded into a "package" feature film; I had seen the film a couple of times, and now it's one of my favorite Disney animated Classics; The ending they had added after Tigger Too always got me here (*point to heart*).

. Hercules
City Travel Guides > VHS > Animation
starring: Tate Donovan, Joshua Keaton, Roger Bart, Danny DeVito, James Woodsdirected by: Ron Clements, John Musker
February 03, 1998
An unusually clever and satisfying movie, suitable for both children and literate adults. The plot is a Disney template: Hercules must discover his identity, learn the true nature of heroism, do his parents proud, and win the girl, all of which he achieves by an act of self sacrifice. A run of the mill coming of age story, then, but several things make the film more than a boring rip-off of ancient themes. First, the drawing has an elegantly fresh look to it, with many witty visual references to Greek vase paintings, sculpture, architectural lines and so forth. There are also quite a few quips and puns for grownups (Thebes is the Big Olive, for example, its residents speaking in New York accents) including plenty of cute jokes about the classics. ... . Walt Disney's American Legends (Paul Bunyan, John Henry, Johnny Appleseed, The Brave Engineer)
City Travel Guides > VHS > Animation
from: Buena Vista
December 21, 2004
This DVD was probably created as Disney's quick, kiddie answer to the surging patriotism in the United States after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. As American consumers were buying flags in record numbers, Disney artists were likely tossing through tinny stacks of old film reels, scavenging for old pro-American cartoon clips that could be spliced into a new collection for kids. Only one of the four cartoons on this disk is new. The other three have the familiar look and sound of Disney past, and if you are American, you're guaranteed to have seen these three cartoons more times than you could have counted during your own childhood. I'll forgive Disney for cashing in on our heightened American-ness right now. I recognize our need to feel truly united after ... Read More:

. Aladdin
City Travel Guides > VHS > Animation
September 29, 1993
There are a select few of the films made by Disney that can almost be considered essential Kid fare. My personal faves are : Robin Hood, Lion King, and the great Aladdin. This is one of Disney's all time greatest moments ever. This is truly one of the best. Adults will find it amazing, kids will love it! An awesome and incredible tale of magic, wishes, coming of age, love, and temptation by absolute power. Wonderful, simply wonderful. Also was one of the first animated movies to really make use of a seamless blend of computer graphics and traditional animation styles. Perfect.

. The Little Mermaid
City Travel Guides > VHS > Animation
starring: Jodi Benson, Christopher Daniel Barnes, Pat Carroll, Jason Marin, Samuel E. Wrightdirected by: John Musker, Ron Clements
March 31, 1998
I love the fairy tales from Hans Christian Andersen, and "The Little Mermaid" is one of my favorite fairy tales from him. Like I said I like a little twist in a fairy story now and then; like the ending...the little sea princess gets her prince (it's a change from Andersen's original ending).
Yes, I love this film . The animation and backgrounds are very beautiful and the characters are appealing, and also the casting is very good too; I love Ariel, she's one of my favorite Disney Princesses along with Cinderella & Aurora from "Sleeping Beauty." Ariel's voice actress Jodi Benson has an excellent singing voice for the film; and also suits her character. And you know, it's kind of hard to choose which film version of the story is the best...I would this version ... Read More:

. Mary Poppins
City Travel Guides > VHS > Animation
August 26, 1997
This is one of those films that has stood the test of time and is still entertaining now as it was 40 years ago. Everyone knows the tale of the magical nanny that blows in on the east wind and into the lives of the Banks family of 17 Cherry Tree Lane. Jane and Michael Banks have had a succession of strict nannies as well as a very strict father and a mother who is always out with her fellow suffragettes. Mary Poppins brings magic and fun into the children's lives, something that has been sorely lacking prior to her arrival.
Julie Andrews stars as the nanny and Dick Van Dyke as the lovable cockney Bert, (just forgive his dreadful accent) who always seems to be around at the right time for an adventure. The children find themselves having outings such as jumping into a chalk picture ... Read More:
