. The Lion King
City Travel Guides > VHS > VHS
starring: Rowan Atkinson, Matthew Broderick, Niketa Calame, Jim Cummings, Whoopi Goldbergdirected by: Rob Minkoff, Roger Allers
March 03, 1995
This is a great movie, and the DVD video quality is excellent. However, Disney has remixed the soundtrack, and has left it very thin.
The introduction sequence is a spectacular extravaganza of animation, and is a classic presentation, however the original VHS audio was superior.
I thought perhaps I was imagining the low quality, so I plugged in my VHS version.
The waterfall can be heard rumbling in the VHS track, but is almost absent on the DVD.
The Elephant footprints come down with such force on the original that you are nearly vibrated off your seat, again on the DVD they are less than impressive.
Finally the finale - the powerful concluding thud on the drum that vibrates the walls and echos for several seconds. ... Read More:

. Atlantis: The Lost Empire

i really enjoyed this animated adventure.it's got action, drama, and humour.the characters are well defined, and the animation is top rate.the voice actors(including Michael J. Fox)fit their characters very well and put a lot of effort into the characterizations.the storyline is compelling and engaging.most of all,the movie fun and well paced.and the movie has an epic feel without the epic length.i think most people will enjoy it.for me,"Atlantis:The Lost Empire" is a 4/5

. Digimon the Movie
City Travel Guides > VHS > VHS
starring: Robert Axelrod, Tifanie Christun, Brian Donovan, Doug Berholt, Tom Fahndirected by: Shigeyasu Yamauchi, Minoru Hosoda

I'm not a connoisseur when it comes to anime. Virtually all of the anime I've ever seen is the junk on the FOX channel. But I'll say the animation for this movie is rather bland and lifeless. Digimon isn't a good TV show, and this isn't a good movie. I heard that the original Japanese Digimon episodes for the TV series were cut, edited, and dumbed down for the American audience. For this 'movie', the boys at FOX took three of the Japanese Digimon movies, cut A LOT of material out, changed the storyline BEYOND RECOGNITION, and also changed a million other little things. Check out some other customer reviews for a list of the specific changes. I'll devote the remainder of this review to describing the American Digimon movie known simply as Digimon: The ... Read More:

March 14, 1995
HI! THIS WAS ONE OF THE FIRST EPISODES I BOUGHT, AND I THOUGHT IT WAS EXELLENT!!! IT IS HILLARIOUS, AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IS IN IT: SIDNEY CYCLOPS. TIMMY DREAMS THAT HIM AND BRUSHBRUSH ARE GOING TO MOLAR ISLAND, AND FIND PEOPLE THERE THAT LOOK LIKE HIS FRIENDS BACK IN FLOSSMORE VALLEY. AT THE END, TIMMY RECIEVES A GIFT FROM CHEIF BUBBLES, AND THEN WAKES UP, AND THE GIFT IS LAYING ON HIS PILLOW! (FREAKY). BUT IN OTHER WORDS, I RECOMMEND THIS TAPE TO ANYBODY 2-7, AND I'M 100% SURE KIDS WILL CHERISH THIS TAPE LIKE I DO!

. Faerie Tale Theatre: Sleeping Beauty
City Travel Guides > VHS > VHS
July 01, 1997
The chemistry between "old maid" missionary woman Hepburn and rough-guy Bogart streaming along a river together in WWI Africa is great. Through many perils the two manage to survive until they are captured by Enemy Germans who are about to execute the pair as spies. The ending of this Hollywood Classic is extremely satisfying. Humphrey Bogart won his only Oscar for his role, while Katherine Hepburn chalked up another one of her 12 career nominations. This film is pure cinema-candy. How can anyone NOT love this movie??? Highly recommended.*****
