. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
City Travel Guides > VHS > VHS
starring: Peter R. Hunt, George Lazenby, Diana Rigg, Telly Savalas, Gabriele Ferzettidirected by: Peter R. Hunt
August 14, 2001
The most underrated movie in the biggest film franchise of all time,OHMSS is highly regarded by 007 movie fans as the best movie. One of the reasons it hasn't topped Goldfinger ,due to the fact James Bond was not portrayed by Sean Connery, but an Australian model in his first acting job. George Lazenby took on the role of 007 when Connery exited after You Only Live Twice (1967).Although lacking Connery's charisma (like the later Bond actors), Lazenby was a superb choice and did a wonderful job despite filling some big shoes. But what really makes this movie so great is the story itself.Based from one of Ian Fleming's last Bond novels,It deals with Bond taking a leave from MI6 to track down Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Telly Savales). He ... . Belly of the Beast
City Travel Guides > VHS > VHS
starring: Patrick Robinson, Steven Seagal, Byron Mann, Tom Wu, Vincent Riottadirected by: Ching Siu Tung
December 30, 2003
I have read reviews about Seagal and his movies and I don't see anything good mentioned. His movies never claimed to be "high art" or have a lot a lot of special effects. You get plain, solid action. I really like Belly of the Beast. Steven was very good. The Foreigner will make you laugh until you can't breath. He kills one guy and he keeps coming back. In the belly of the beast he is unrelenting in getting his daughter back. Review of his movies talk about Seagal's bad acting and that is not the case in this movie. The girl who is his daughter might be guilty of bad acting but not Seagal. Judging but his reviews everyone thinks he sucks. If he does why do you keep going back and watching the movies? I say if you can't write a decent, fair ... Read More:

. Indiana Jones Set (Widescreen)
City Travel Guides > VHS > VHS
starring: Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Denholm Elliott, Alison Doody, John Rhys-Daviesdirected by: Steven Spielberg
January 06, 2004
How can one not love Indiana Jones? The guy is brilliant, tough, not afraid to get his hands dirty, he doesn't mind shooting the bad guy rather than just delivering him to justice and he's a hit with the ladies. I liked the Indiana Jones movies when I was a kid, but you really can't appreciate how good they are until you've had about a decade or so of real movie watching; I mean after giving up the cartoons. Each story just gets better; Raiders of the Lost Ark is great, but a little slow, The Temple of Doom is even better than Raiders and The Last Crusade - well, Sean Connery is in it, what more do I need to say? If you're even a bit of a movie buff and liked these films as a kid, buy them and watch them. When your kids are old enough to watch this ... Read More:

. Ali MacGraw: Yoga--Mind & Body
City Travel Guides > VHS > VHS
from: Warner
December 11, 2001
This is indeed a beautiful video with some of the highest production values I've ever seen in an exercise video. It is ideal for anyone just looking for a nice flexibility yoga sequence. But I use yoga more for flexible STRENGTH and this did NOTHING for me. It is a challenging yoga routine--not for beginners (there is virtually no pose instruction so you have to know how to position your body without the help of the video). But it is challenging in terms of flexibility only. I usually sweat a lot during yoga and feel my muscles being worked a lot, and I felt absolutely none of my muscles being worked in this video. Great for a relaxing workout, entirely useless if you actually want exercise for its own benefits. Ali talks about yoga as a workout for her mind, ... Read More:

. Shadowlands
City Travel Guides > VHS > VHS
starring: Anthony Hopkins, Roddy Maude-Roxby, Debra Winger, Edward Hardwicke, Andrew Seeardirected by: Richard Attenborough
January 13, 1998
The movie was done well. The cast was magnificent. The scenes of the Oxford Campus were beautiful. The story drew me in. However, it did not present Lewis very well. First, it presents Lewis as being rather naive about suffering. He kept giving the same sermon over and over and implies that did not really understand suffering. This is not so. His mother died when he was very young. He was a soldier in World War 2. His close friend, Charles Williams, died around this period of his life. Second, the movie left the viewer with the impression that Lewis left his simple Christianity and grew into a better understanding of the world. He truly suffered when Joy died as the book, "A Grief Observed" describes beautifully, but he did not leave the faith. Read More:
