Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Well written, but storyline was a little unoriginal
Sadie was a very quick, easy read. But, while I thought it was well-written, the storyline was too predictable. The 1st half concentrates on the main character's childhood, and does a good job of it. But I felt like the 2nd half was a bit rushed. There were no surprises at all. We get no real sense of her life - nor of any other love interest. I felt like the whole thing needed to be a bit more hard-hitting.

There's definitely something Martina Cole-like about Jane Elliott's writing (a high compliment indeed), and I have a feeling we're going to see some good stuff from her going forward. But she needs to have a few more twists in her plotlines to really bring her up to the MC level. MC is never afraid to go out on a limb and throw ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fab!!!!!!!!
being a massive martina cole fan I wasnt expecting this to live up to her expectations - God was i surprised ! This book is brilliant and gritty ! It keeps you hookd until the end ! i cannot wait for the next book to come out - fans of martina cole will love this book, and should also try kevin lewis! Brilliant!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Bit disappointed to be honest...
Having read such brilliant reviews i was dying to get my hand on this book.
The beginning was great, i got really stuck into it and couldnt put it down. It was as if i was reading a true story, i guess that'a because the other book by this author is one about her life.
The first part of the book i didnt have a problem about it was the second.
I thought it lacked detail. I had practically guessed what was going to happen, there was no suspence. There was no mention at all to the relationship Sadie now had with men. If she had ever had a boyfriend etc. Or had the abuse and awful childhood put her off men for life?
As a reader i would like to have known a bit more about Sadie from when we left her at 16 to the business women ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Page-turning fiction at its best
I stumbled across this book having been enthralled by the Kevin Lewis novels and the plot for this sounded good. However this book was absolutely superb - great characters, a superbly gripping story and turned out to be the definitive book you can't put down. A superb debut novel and I will be awaiting the follow up with eager anticipation. If you are in 2 minds give it a buy - you won't be dissapointed.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Wow!
A powerful, hard -hitting book!
It's almost as the Author has lived the life of Sadie she descibes.
It's about sexual feelings but in no way "sexy".
At times it's compelling and I couldn't put it down - although I found it distateful at times it was also an education.
Sadie shows glimpses of her softness at various times - shows she is human.
She survived - with the help of an old gentleman - Lionel who takes care of her.
Some of her classmates were not quite successful.
Central to the book is the character of Allen, her disgusting paedophile father - a real sleaze ball who preys on the unfortunates.
Read it now!
