Editorial Review:
A Regan, South Devon College: Detailed coverage of events 1815-1914. Very appropriate to the learning needs of students studying AS and A Level History.
Book Description: This second edition of Years of Expansion features an updated narrative and fully revised study guides for AS and A level. The key political, social and economic developments of the period are given comprehensive coverage.
Synopsis: This second edition of Years of Expansion features an updated narrative and fully revised study guides for AS and A level. The key political, social and economic developments of the period are given comprehensive coverage. Particular emphasis is placed upon the changing nature of party politics and movements for reform, including the campaign for women's suffrage. Comprehensive selections of visual and written source material combined with extensive student guidance and questions makes this an indispensable text for student studying nineteenth-century British history.

I have to disagree with the previous reviewer. This book is not "long-winded", rather I think it provides students with an excellent background to the subject. This is some of the most engaging history writing I have read.

The book is both interesting and useful. I have found it useful in studying 'A' level History as all aspects of British history between 1815-1914 are discussed in depth. The book is excellent for reference although some sections can be long-winded. However, this does not affect my view that this is a great book, especially for those 'A'level students studying History.
