 Rating:  - Ultimately disappointing for Judges admirersThere is much to recommend this book, as the previous reviewer points out, but those who admire old Judges postcards should be warned: ALL the photographs are reproduced in black and white, NOT the trade-mark sepia used on the front and back covers. The consequent loss of atmosphere in these great images is quite astonishing, for me at least, and I'm left with a strong sense of disappointment. Rating:  - Great photos from mid 19th Century to 1970sI came across this book by accident and I normally avoid old photo books unless I'm familiar with the area shown, however, this book is a great exception. All the photos come from old postcards and instead of just concentrating on a particular age, they range from old (mid 1800s) to relatively modern (1970s). You can see how particular places have changed over the years and you can sense how different the way of life changes with the scenery. The author demonstrates a good knowledge of London through the ages, supplying interesting bits of information relevant to each photo.
