I was one with Calvyn's surrounding as I grew up in the countryside surrounded by a stream, fish, trees, simplicity and kind people. As I read on, I began to get attached to Calvyn, Perdimonn, Calvyn's friends and the adventure. Training at Baron's camp was pretty tough and the vengeful little plot of Recruit Garth was written so well because I could not imagine how Calvyn was going to get out of it to prove his innocence. The flogging was pretty grim; I felt sick of the images the reading was creating in my mind because it was so vivid ... finally enjoying the message I heard: good winning over evil.

The story kept me enthralled throughout, I got really involved with the characters who all came to life for me. I could not wait to get the next episode. If you like action, adventure and magic you'll love this book. (review by Cameron Robertson age 11)

This is the first enthralling volume in the Darkweaver Legacy. Calvyn, a teenage farmer, has gone out fishing for the day, and on his return journey, he aids kindly stranger Perdimonn, whose wagon has got stuck in the mud. The least Perdimonn can do is to offer the young lad a lift home...

I received an email about this book and decided to follow it up, when I picked up the book I found I couldn't put it down. Calvins adventures begin when he comes back from a fishing trip, meeting an old man on the road back to his village - he soon swept up in things beyond his control. He also learns that magic isn't as easy as it looks, it's not about waving a wand around!
This book is sad, funny and totally engrossing, definately a must to read - if you enjoyed Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings then you'll love this. I even managed to persuade my husband to read it and he is very sceptical when it comes to reading!!!
